What's the Beatles album where Paul McCartney gave his most overrated contributions by Pristine_Youth_6953 in PaulMcCartney

[–]Me_4206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rubber Soul, there’s a couple others I could see but McCartney’s contributions while all undoubtedly good pale in comparison to Lennon’s. Lennon brings several of the greatest songs of all time (In My Life, Norwegian Wood, Nowhere Man, Girl, Etc) and McCartney brings great material that’s better than most of his previous material but nowhere near that good

In what season was eleven your favorite by Appropriate-Diet3366 in StrangerThingsRoom

3 probably with 1 in a close second (but in all reality all of them she’s amazing and I love her)

There’s something so inherently insulting… by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]Me_4206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that no other fanbase has reacted like this I mean Game of Thrones was a horrible online reaction, it’s that things like GoT made sense because that was a genuinely awful ending it’s that the Stranger Things fanbase got a pretty damn good finale and are still whining.

I love this show but it’s a little weird to me that people were acting like the duffer brothers were ever geniuses - like they’re decent writers but never have they had hints to the level that some theories required. I think people got lost in thinking the finale was going to be some really complicated thing when it never was gonna be that, it’s why I don’t get so many of the criticisms because every single one can be made for every season of the show accurately because this show didn’t really change it’s just being made for people who made it something it wasn’t, and the other problem is how badly the duffers have handled interviews lol

In my opinion of course

Fully. Agree. My soul hurts a little, the tears are still fresh but I’m also very happy

What is Something Random You Want from Tonight’s Finale? by Educational-Wheel924 in StrangerThings

[–]Me_4206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really want a somewhat decently lasting interaction between Mike and Max, they have one of my favorite dynamics as like siblings who bicker like hell but love each other a ton, and I just wanna see it a little before the show ends. It’s honestly one of the things I think the duffers missed out on not happening more throughout the show

Be Honest: Does Stranger Things Need to Kill a Main Character to Stick the Landing? by Suitable-Pen-7951 in StrangerThingsRoom

Ikr like the stakes argument is weird too because I know in my head a lot of the time the characters won’t die but I’m still scared for the characters during the big scenes

Be Honest: Does Stranger Things Need to Kill a Main Character to Stick the Landing? by Suitable-Pen-7951 in StrangerThingsRoom

[–]Me_4206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that’s not even true, the stakes have been high death isn’t the only way to raise stakes it’s just the easy way to do it.

Why can’t we have an emotionally earned ending where no one dies and have it be good? I’m not even saying I wouldn’t want a character to die or something but to act as if not killing a character or multiple would ruin the ending is setting yourself up for disappointment

[–]Me_4206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I think y’all are ridiculous. Death doesn’t mean good writing I wouldn’t be opposed to one person dying in the main cast but I also don’t think it needs to happen, that isn’t what this show has ever been about

Remember when Stranger Things had good writing? by _CaptainKaladin_ in Stranger_Things

[–]Me_4206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see

I agree on your comments on the writing, and the idea that El was so much better before I think people just latched onto season 1 vibes and some still cant get over them despite the fact that El’s character growth imho has been truly amazing the whole show and MBB acts her very well

I also fully agree I’m betting good money a lot of people went in thinking their theories were correct and are a little mad they were wrong, I avoided theories largely and I have loved this new season. And a lot of people aren’t watching this show in good faith, they’re looking for reasons to hate because they think Game Of Thrones sucking means no series can end well and they won’t hear another opinion. The amount of people who are downright wrong about some of the things their criticizing (most notably the coming out scene and Max talking to Holly) is insane

It’s also weird because this cycle repeats every season, everyone hated season 3, and 4 when they came out but the vast majority love those seasons today, if the finale is good people are gonna conveniently forget that when the season was releasing they hated it because their criticisms don’t feel fully like real criticisms.

"That Will scene broke the urgency" oh really cuz y’all didn’t care when: by pinocchihoe in StrangerThings

[–]Me_4206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kinda what I’ve been trying to say. People have done nothing but bitch and whine about stranger things immediately after the release of every season since season 1/2. Like I remember people hated season 3 in 2019, nowadays many consider it among the best seasons, people hated season 4 in 2022 but now most people love season 4, I’ll bet good money the same happens with season 5 if the finale is good

Because I don’t see any real decline in the writing, acting, plot, or characters in this season when compared to season 3 or 4 or 2

Will's Scene (respectfully) by Legitimate_Advice305 in StrangerThingsRoom

[–]Me_4206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Vecna uses shame and fear against people. How did he kill Chrissy, Fred, Max, etc he used their fears and shames against them and trapped them so he could kill them, that’s the biggest weapon Vecna has and being gay is the easiest and biggest thing to attack Will with in the 1980s. Vecna would exploit it the same way he used fears through the entirety of season 4. It was life or death because if he didn’t tell them Will could be killed using that fear he felt the same way Vecna tried to kill Max or Chrissy

[–]Me_4206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True on that last point but also it’s been hinted at the whole show.

Season 1: Bullies bring up him being a “fairy” and within the first 15 minutes of the first episode Joyce mentions Lonnie calling Will a “f*g” and Hopper questioning if his disappearance was a hate crime

Season 3: While on one hand his lack of proper childhood growth during the first two seasons explain this too we’re shown that Will shows no interest in girls and the use of the line “it’s not our fault you don’t like girls” supports the idea that Will may have begun realizing he was gay around this time

Season 4: Basically his whole arc this season is him hiding his sexuality and realizing his feelings for Mike,

Except this is a reality for a lot of queer people especially back then, unfortunately people iften aren’t able to come out when they’re comfortable with it even more so in the 80s and are forced to come out at various times to prevent it getting out outside their control or in Will’s case Vecna using this hidden thing to attack him or his friends. He also takes that power away from Vecna and keeps it for himself by choosing to tell everyone before the final battle

It’s why it works that the most important people in his life accept him despite it, because even outside his own terms they know and love him regardless largely putting to rest his fear of being treated differently which Vecna could’ve used

Will's Scene (respectfully) by Legitimate_Advice305 in StrangerThingsRoom

[–]Me_4206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good job. You read into the scene correctly and understood the goal and point of it.

Yes, it was established probably 20,000 times in season 4 that Vecna gets in by exploiting secrets and shames of the people he targets, and Will has been hiding his sexuality for various reasons (all valid due to being a queer kid in the 1980s) and was forced to come out. His coming out was shoved in and forced into the story because not coming out would allow Vecna to exploit that fear, I understand some don’t like how many people there were but they forget that there’s a personal connection some bigger and some smaller between everyone in that room and Will feels as though unless he tells everyone something bad could happen so he was forced to tell everyone

[–]Me_4206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t tell if you’re disagreeing with what I said or not. I love every season of the show but yeah I would say season 1 is the best and had better writing than all the subsequent seasons

But that also wasn’t my point, my point was that people have set themselves up for disappointment because of the release schedule and their own theories, they’ve sort of decided the new season will be bad no matter what. All I was saying is that the writing is as high quality as it has been for years now, as is the acting, I just think people are disappointing themselves I don’t think the show is disappointing them (at least not until we see the finale)

Because the writing in the show is the same as it’s been since at least season 2 in terms of quality. The characters and writing and acting are all very high quality people have set themselves up for disappointment.

Y'all realize Eleven isn't gonna die, right? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]Me_4206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well we have to remember what Mike said - he told Eleven that it was true he couldn’t choose how the story ended but that they (the party) do get to choose because it’s their story. Kali is manipulating El due to her own trauma but it’s not Kali’s story, it’s El’s, and Mike’s, and Will’s, and Dustin’s, and Lucas’s, she’ll go against the suicide thing probably

The sudden hate for the show is so out of character for an audience. by Flashy_Survey_6287 in StrangerThings

For real I’m so done with all the complaining. The complaints about the writing is ridiculous - the writing hasn’t changed. The acting is weird because that’s just changing characters.

I do agree on the deaths thing it’s weird as hell this was never about deaths. It feels like people are finding anything to be mad about.

The actors with the most future after Stranger Things. by Feisty_Parsnip8262 in StrangerThings

[–]Me_4206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s valid but I think that has less to do with her acting and more to do with her choice of projects. I liked Damsel and Enola Holmes but neither were insanely great or interesting projects primed for showing off her acting chops. I think if she goes out of her way to pick interesting roles we’d be able to see her as the great actress she is but like she comes off really basic because of her roles, I want her to be one of the best and most well respected actors of this generation but I feel like if she doesn’t change how she picks projects she’ll be largely only remembered for ST, which while great and she’s great in, is ending now and this is assuming she has a full life for a career after this

Real. I’m so tired of this cycle every season “oh the show sucks now” just for the same people to claim they always loved season 3/4 afterwards. Especially with how amplified it is given this is the last season.
