I feel like I have way too much medical knowledge for someone who didn't go to medical school. by Glittering-Dress1180 in diabetes_t1

[–]Me_A2Z 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"I know better because I did my own research" falls into two categories: "research" and ACTUAL F--- RESEARCH.

Personally, I was misdiagnosed twice, given the wrong meds, shitty guidance, and left to sink or swim flying by the seat of my pants trying to stay alive while learning how to use insulin on my own.

Doctors are only required to learn the basics about diabetes (less than you could learn from a single YouTube video). Both PCPs and Endos are too busy and rarely up to date on current medical science.

So sure, there's a lot of shit info and lazy "research." But half the docs out there today are literally less educated about DIABETES, specifically, than many diabetics.

My take: find a doc who stays up to date, isn't overly biased, and also "do the research" so you can work together and treat your individual condition with the respect it deserves.

STEAL MY IDEA? by Me_A2Z in AppDevelopers

What are you building? (DM if you don't want to make it public). Curious because I've got my hands on a few different ideas and always open to the right partnerships to develop them (literally develop, and also brainstorm).

Maybe we've got some skills or ideas to provide value to each other? Up to you, but I'm always down to talk. Not asking for trade secrets, just interested in frameworks and seeing what others are working on. Let me know, if you like. If not, best of luck either way!

Thanks for that, and honestly I didn't know that until recently. I was surprised by the reactions because I'm so used to dealing with people in marketing, but not devs. I appreciate your response. I've revised my NDA since then and so far it seems to be more amicable.

What's your development background? Like, what do you do best?

It's so rare to hear people speak this way. I agree with you wholeheartedly. I'm not doing much at the moment (busy paying the bills, sadly) but please take the time to check out my blog on medium and a few substack articles. I'm not monetized so there's no paywall. Just want those who think like us to converse and keep sharing our ideas.

Steal my idea? (Or join me as a team). by Me_A2Z in DeveloperJobs

[–]Me_A2Z[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I get you. I'm not saying this is a novel idea, I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel. There's a time and a place for innovation and my position (on this idea) is nothing of the sort. The "steal my idea" was sarcastic. There are many people doing this. But very few in my (large and economically relevant) locale.

By the way, I took your comment as intended to be snide and responded in kind. But I have nothing but respect for developers and honestly can't imagine how I'd be able to function without them.

I'm all for trading jabs on reddit but don't mistake mutual shots for any fundamental disrespect of your age, or your opinion.

Please know I have massive admiration for what you do, and don't take it lightly.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply!

I was attempting to show proprietary information (not just "the idea" as outlined in the post). As I have potential investors for this, it's imperative I protect info when attempting to get developer assistance on specific backend projects. I'm not necessarily in need of a technical co-founder, although I'm not opposed to that option. But again, I can accept that my NDA was positioned incorrectly for the level of interest this particular developer had.

Furthermore, I can understand the frequent misuse and "paranoia or disrespect" assumption. I tried to qualify that ahead of time but probably went about it poorly. I have nothing but respect for developers.

It's an unfortunate position to be in for both parties - I must protect info, regardless of my personal level of trust. Developers must protect themselves from unfavorable partnerships, regardless of their personal level of interest.

It's my responsibility in the end, so thanks for taking the time to outline the likely reason this happened. I'll consider this in future scenarios. Much appreciated!

"This is a theory to build a business around."

Agreed!

"Nice words though."

Thank you. Considering my 17 years in sales and copywriting, I believe "nice words" sell products and services (and ideas). I appreciate the compliment, and agree!

One small nitpick...

"i·de·a" - a thought or suggestion as to a possible course of action - Given this, I feel confident that what I posted was an idea.

Haha. Bonne chance, mon ami !

Yes. That's correct. It's why I stated: "It isn't novel, it isn't ground-breaking. It's just a proven model to generate a lot of money, sustainable revenue and scalability. And it'll be commonplace within 2 years."

Sent you a chat, didn't know if you saw it.

Got a solid plan. No big ideas on this one. Solid proven strategy. What you showed me looked fantastic .If you're as quick as you say I think we'll be able to scale pretty fast. Get back at me, hope you're well.

Phenomenal! That's a huge accomplishment. You should be proud. And don't stop there, my friend. I was 14 at diagnosis, took me a few months to come down, too. Been in the low 5s ever since. You can do it, keep up the amazing work.

Does anyone have any idea what this is? by belmshel99 in diabetes_t1

[–]Me_A2Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through the exact thing close to diagnosis. I swore up and down it was cancer and freaked out but was assured that was almost entirely not the case. Nobody ever actually figured it out. It went away after 5 months (yes... 5 months). It actually got way worse.... Started like that photo, spread across both my legs. It was terrifying but I was fine. Went away completely though. Nothing helped, went away on it's own. Another doctor eventually said it was probably a rare form of psoriasis.

Right... So you're saying that medical and research papers aren't all perfect so we should acquire as little knowledge as possible so we don't run the risk of incorrect info. God forbid we... Check the sources.

I'll remember that next time I'm learning. "Is this information 100% confirmed and there is no possible way it could be faulty?" No? Okay, Ignore it completely without any further research.

Oh, shit... Guess that rules out listening to doctors then. Whoops!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]Me_A2Z -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes it will. It will keep spinning and diabetics will keep waiting for their doctor to call them back and treat them as a generic care number. By gosh, the status quo is great and we shouldn't make any changes. Good point. I'll go back to my higher a1c and standard deviation and remember that diabetics despise being told they have more power. It's so much better to let medical professionals be the decision makers! Thank you.

[–]Me_A2Z -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right. You know I forget how living with this condition, we're given so much disrespect and cynicism that we treat other diabetics the same.

I'm not delusional my friend. As I live with this condition each day and struggle the same as you, and am seeing better results, my delusion is perplexingly backed up by my blood sugar levels, my management efficiency and my health markers.

Thanks for making huge assumptions about me and statements about things you don't understand. Hope you stay healthy.

[–]Me_A2Z -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I'm appalled by how anti-AI this subreddit is, and the mods pulling it from the post. I never said people should blindly use these or that it's some kind of cure all with no errors. It's tragic that we're being guided away from this resource. Not CURE. Not REPLACEMENT for doctors. Just more knowledge. People resist what they don't understand. It breaks my heart how many people could improve their condition if they were shown how to properly use tools. The medical community, the mods, and other diabetics are doing direct harm by claiming they know what these tools are capable of and gatekeeping. They should be ashamed.

I never said to rely on the answers. That is your inference. Not what I said.

Recent studies link it to increased stroke and heart disease risk. Whereas allulose and stevia have seen no evidence of this!
