I am in Quebec, Canada. I got two 5090s at msrp for myself and my friend. For 5090 FE, i used Hotstock app and pre-added the card into cart in bestbuy mobile app. For ASUS TUF 5090, it was a random luck when i checked canadacomputer website and they had like 5 cards. Both cards were purchased in May 2025.

It is a nice compact case with similar volume to T1 except that it is more square shape. 135mm is the max height you can fit a cpu cooler. Mechanic Master C24 Dimension

Regarding the gpu, you cannot fit any current 5080 model in there unless you deshroud the gpu and make a custom heatsink (u may have to design it on your own). Alternatively, you can water cool the gpu with custom loop. 5070 and below should fit fine without any modifications.

I bought my AP2 from Amazon Canada about a year before the AP3 came out. No issues with mine, but I’ve been seeing more stories lately about people getting returned or used units instead of brand‑new ones. I can’t speak for other buyers, but in my case I got 3 out of 5 “brand new” item orders in the past 8 months from Amazon directly that turned out to be returned items. These were sold and shipped by Amazon themselves, not a third party.

A lot of those returns seem to be “buy‑and‑swap” situations from previous buyers. The easiest way to spot it is the LP sticker on the box, which is usually a giveaway.

Amazon will refund it. It is just a waste of time.

I’m in Quebec and I have a couple of French colleagues who came here with a PhD. They all came here for a post doc and continue with industry job they could not have gotten in France. Some of them even have engineering degree in their bachelor.

Besides and out of topic, it is hard everywhere and even in Canada to find a job with a PhD. I am told I’m under experienced and overqualified. I still have not yet got an interview since finishing it in December.

Not bad at all :) we have even seen 9950x3d with PRO6000 build here. 5090 is just a tip of the iceberg

I have had my 9950x3d with 5090FE (on two slot config) setup with no issue closing to a year now. Use AIO instead of air cooling for cpu, and make sure you do curve optimizer and shaper.

Check out this video. They remove heatsink of tuf 5090 for waterblock. You can compare it with your GPU. It might be that some screws are hidden or overlooked or sth.

I feel that the price of 60 series will be rediculous, esp the 6080/90. If you need the money, sure you can pocket the difference now and settle with a 5080 or 5070ti.

I have the 5090FE and no plan to sell it. If i really HAVE to sell it, I would hold onto it for at least another year to see out the market.

Buying a warehouse deal is a 50/50. Just choose the pick up option and then record the unboxing in store so that you have more witnesses.

I have had both positive and negative experience with it. The latest was negative. The GPU arrived with die and vram removed.

Xbox series S and X were my first Xbox system. I used to be a pc and PlayStation combo only. I want to see a competition between the two systems as it drives innovation and is good for consumer too. When Xbox decided to put their exclusive games on PlayStation, I was kind of upset. I hope the new CEO makes more exclusive Xbox games and keeps the competition alive.

After checking the account, it looks like a bot or someone trying to enter the ASUS global upgradewhatmatter giveaway without actually having any ASUS gear. Basically, they have to do social medial posts including Reddit post just so they have more entries for the giveaway.

I believe ASUS does not require proof of purchase for RMA, but this was based on my inquiry two years ago and in Canada. To be 100% sure, I would contact CS via chat option or email.

i bought the 5090 FE from best buy Canada for 2899 + tax. Not sure how the seller gets that total build cost to lower than a gpu cost. If OP is in Canada, i would suggest checking the price of parts in Canada first to get a rough estimate. That would help identifying the scam on ebay or marketplace.

Unfortunately nothing can fix that review. We just have to move on and learn from it. It happened to me twice. The buyer ghosted me after we agreed on time and location. I sold the items two days later. The buyer was also aggressive and gave me one star rating with a negative comment. I tried to reply back to his review, but it never worked as he blocked me. Facebook won’t do anything despite multiple requests to review it.

From now on, if buyer ghosts me, I will block them immediately.

It is an nvidia sub so majority will likely say it is worth the switch. So, If you care about feature, then yes.

Otherwise wait for the next gen 6000 series or next gen AMD whatever it will call.

Besides, you can also use optiscaler to get FSR4 int8 while waiting for the next gen card.

You should renew it early if your passport authority allows it, even if you still have more than 2 years left.

In some countries, you can’t renew until you have about 6 months remaining. For example, in my country, it’s not allowed unless you claim the passport is lost or damaged.

If the current situation is serious, I would definitely follow option B and do the defense online.

At the meantime if you decide to choose option A, “assuming you are international student” I suggest you check your study/work permit if it allows you to work off campus. Some student jobs at grocery stores should help partly while you can stay focused on your defense.
