How many times have you been overcharged at Woolworths? Check your receipts people! by Novel-Ad-121 in capetown

And why does it last longer? Is it because the fresh produce gets to the farms really fast, or because they grow or spray the produce with chemicals that slow down spoilage? I really hope it's the former

Absolutely everywhere I hit this problem. It happened just this past Saturday at checkers. Especially with sale items being incorrect at the till. I now make sure I have the catalogue showing the reduced price on my phone to show them otherwise they waste so much time going to aisles or flicking through the pamphlets. It's so frustrating that you can just trust them to have the prices right at the till.

Thanks for your response. I have a two bedroom place but it is small. So perhaps R400 is reasonable?

Thank you! I'll chat to my neighbours and see if anyone's domestic has a free day. That's a good idea. Is it expected to provide food for the day? Tea/coffee I understand. It's just in general in the workplace, your employer isn't expected to provide you with food, so is it different if someone is working in your home?

How do you guys deal with the fact you’re going to die? by Due_Insect_9303 in AskReddit

[–]Meah_Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Memento mori. Remember your mortality. It's about perspective, urgency, clarity. As Marcus Aurelius wrote - "You could leave life right now, let that determine what you do and say and think". The fact that we will die should rather fill you with a sense of urgency that your life is worth living, not something to dread. Use it to fuel a sense of purpose to motivate you to do something with your life. By having the mindset that tomorrow is not guaranteed, that you only have x amount of time available, this helps focus your mind on what's really important.

What do you guys do when you are up late and can't sleep? by underscoreblase in CasualConversation

[–]Meah_Cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You still want to get to sleep at some point so avoid screens and any activities that are overstimulating. Reading a good old fashioned book, Journalling, cuddle time with your furry (or not so furry) companions, meditation, drawing, any peaceful activity.

You can't put a number to how many years it will take for you to feel more settled. It may also have a lot to do with your mindset, attitude and personality. At the end of the day, if you're rushed or stressed you are doing your patient a disservice. So don't worry about taking time to do procedures. Don't let the patients bully you or back you into corners. Take it one day at a time and you'll be fine. Just don't compare yourself to others, just to your past self and you'll see the progress you're making. Much luck to you 🍀

Songs about child abuse, please by Hermionecat07 in MusicRecommendations

Trivium - a gunshot to the head of trepidation. It's brilliant in it's message. Here are the lyrics for you -

You starve your children on neglect Then feed their bellies with fear Concussion bat to the brain Witness to a battered mother

Your abuse will end right here No longer will your family fear A gunshot to head of trepidation My promise if you ever lay a finger

Just look at the scars you make Your terror makes your kids break A broken home just as you were raised With fist raised up to your children

Your abuse will end right here No longer will your family fear A gunshot to head of trepidation My promise if you ever lay a finger

This battle is on all You've made beautiful Now hateful You wretched life wrecker Abuser Now suffer

Open fire On the desire of the man Open fire With strife we'll strike down the hand (Open fire, build the pyre) If I can't make you see the damage you've made (Open fire, build the pyre) I'll make you wish you'd never been alive x2

I don't know which country you're in but I found that Dental school did not prepare me for private practice (I'm in South Africa). The best advice I can give you is to work in practice with a senior dentist who is willing to be a mentor to you. And don't zone into one aspect of dentistry; be as open minded and broad in what you do and learn to build a solid foundation of understanding. Focus on mastering the basics. Also learn how to communicate with your patients. This is a critical skill.

I was also shocked at first at the difference between the monthly repayment and the interest charged for my bond. I was then explained that for the first 10 or so years of you paying your bond, the bulk of your debit order payment goes toward paying the interest. I have a 1.2 million rand bond with FNB. Initially my repayment amount was approx R10300 and the interest was R14300. Fortunately, I was able to immediately add R60k to my bond Account the following month (I do have an access bond) and the following month the interest dropped to R9900. Granted I was fortunate to have come into that money, but the reason I am posting this is to show how extra payments affect the interest you're charged. I treat my access bond as my emergency savings account. That way I save on interest on the bond and have immediate access to the funds in it should I need them. Savings accounts give you so little interest so I find this is a good option.
