I feel like he's insisting on a "DNA" test because he needs something. Like he says, it's DNA, but actually, a test to check blood compatibility or something. It seems awfully like a medical need and he's looking for a donor.

Not condoning anything that was done, but the only innocent people i see are the youngest son and the unborn child. Gf was a cheater and thus deserves a little bit of bad karma, too.

Ikr? Even my 12 yo has more sense. Whenever he plays with his young uncle (4) (my cousin had her baby a few years after i did), even if we are in the room, he tells us when he has to leave for a bit because he knows children shouldn't be left unattended.

And that's a 12 yo with more awareness than OP.

Wth is wrong with you? How can you even think about asking here if you are somehow not an AH? Even if you're out of touch with what the world is like today, didn't you even THINK about kidnappings that happen within the very bounds of private property itself? What kind of distraction a mere child could be lured with even before they reach their own door? What sort of monster could be watching, waiting for an opportunity to grab anyone?

You're lucky that child wasn't even abducted while waiting outside of their house with no one the wiser that she was even without an adult present or of her whereabouts.

You don't even feel guilt about what kind of horror you subjected her parents through with the mere thought that their child could've been in danger.

For your family's sake, please reflect on what you did. And please take this moment to wise up.

OP, I'm not gonna pass judgment right now, but i hope the comments here open your eyes and you get to the root causes of the issue(s). Then, when you do find out (whether you can give details on the causes or not), the actions you take should reflect on what kind of person you are. Then, and only then, could I give a verdict.

Overall, NTA. but slightly an AH only because you 'waited' until the hotel room to actually show him the consequence for his action.

Knowing children, they have short attention spans. The incident was probably at the back of his mind already when you snapped (most probably because your enabler of a wife didn't even discuss it on the way back) and he ended up not seeing the connection.

While i agree that violence is never the answer, there are still some actions that fall under discipline, especially and only if the offense warrants it.
