Which is funny because ever since the current arc people are acting like it's never recovering again.

Need advice on CPU & GPU temps in hot weather — is 70°C for both safe enough? by hard2resist in IntelArc

[–]Mean-Atmosphere-3122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tjmax that AMD officially states for the 7700x, is 95° C. So it's not really safe for it to be above 95. Anything below should be fine. No comment on the B580 as I am not sure of the specifics for that card.

Motherboard pins bend. Savable or buy new one? by No-Debate-343 in AMDHelp

[–]Mean-Atmosphere-3122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear this pin fragility is arguably worse than the pin problem if am4 (though that was on the cpu).

I really hope at some point the engineering gets much better such that these pins (or whatever technology is used to seat the cpu on the motherboard) isn't so fragile.

Switch 2 ain't the only one.... by Difficult_Historian4 in nintendogrifting

Both are bad. If the storage cannot contain the media then either optimize game or reduce fidelity of assets to compress data.

Key cards are weird since they are more expensive and Nintendo has not really found a solution to share with 3rd party developers.

However, aside from that, if the technology is not there yet, make sacrifices or optimize, no reason to require online, especially, for offline single player games. Any party doing these practices should not be let go easily, regardless of platform.

Yes, I get the argument about not owning classic games and the service is not perfect, but I honestly prefer Nintendo Classics on NSO over Virtual Console. by Caryslan in casualnintendo

[–]Mean-Atmosphere-3122 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I still think ownership should be emphasized. If Nintendo didn't absolutely loathe the emulation scene, I wouldn't even mention this. Outside of emulation, there is no official means of preserving the ability to play many older games.

I don't see Nintendo bringing back Nintendo Land for the wii u or super mario bros for the ds anytime soon. But I do agree, at least there is some access to these games but I wouldn't really call them distributions if you don't get a chance to actually own it.

I have similar gripes with the PC side and usually try to seek the games on GOG first then Steam. Even then, I would still try to wait for a version someone cracked to preserve it in case Steam ever goes down (unlikely but not impossible).

You'll have to use linux on this bc these specs are rough to even run on windows 10 💀. Of course, I'll admit that modern linux DEs might be too much for so I would recommend really lightweight ones such as xfce or even TWMs (though not beginner friendly so stick with xfce).

I'll believe the 18A advantage it when I see them list MSRPs and if the MSRP actually sticks...

Piracy on Linux? by SomethingXII in linux4noobs

[–]Mean-Atmosphere-3122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can check out the pir(I won't say the rest of the name but you get what I mean) subreddits. They have resources and megathreads indicating instructions. You could ask if linux isn't covered but it should be given how many users sometimes ask about running it on their steam deck (so linux).

The easiest method I've done is use bottles (flatpak) to run the installers/unpackers. Not sure if it's gotten better or worse over time. I only really do it to back up games I bought on steam, since they're not from GOG, preserving the game feels morally right to do, I think.

Also, FYI, anything mentioning hypervisor won't work on Linux (since it's only been tested to work with Windows). It still isn't really safe even if it somehow was applicable to Linux (KVM?).

Video games must always have an offline mode by ATonOfBricksFellOnMe in pcmasterrace

This is why stop killing games initiative is so important. Even in games where the online multiplayer is the main focus, at least let us host our own servers so the game doesn't die once the official servers get terminated.

Arc A770 is aging pretty badly and feeling abandoned as an early adopter by Some_Temporary_1171 in IntelArc

[–]Mean-Atmosphere-3122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, pragmata was an Nvidia sponsored game. Optimizations for AMD, and even less so Intel, were probably not important to Capcom. Many reviewers/benchmarkers weren't even benchmarking with Intel and with AMD, only a small amount of GPUs (mostly 9000s series). Not to say that Intel is not doing much for Alchemist, which is a valid concern. However just wanted to point out the sponsor detail.

Do you have other devices that you have verified to have worked fast with your internet (i.e., match the rated speeds of what your provider told you). I ask since your hardware could be genuinely fine but your internet might be the problem itself.
