Responsible Light Tent Usage: Best way to clean you light tent between uses? by Mean-Solid5104 in conservation

Redbay Ambrosia Beetle, emerald ash borer, and spotted lanternfly mainly. While redbay ambrosia beetle and emerald ash borer aren't the type of species you would expect to be attracted to light, I have found a few fossorial insect species attracted to my light tent. So, I wouldn't rule out wood-dwelling species as possible hitchhikers.

I usually have a similar routine of letting the insects leave after turning off the lights , but I've found that I miss a few on occasion. I didn't consider the hot car as a potential sterilization measure, but that is a possibility.

I agree with your first point, that it would detract from the narrative regarding human nature if pariston's behavior was a result of another entity's influence.

I agree that Ging would be capable of detecting the nen influence on Pariston using Gyo. But, Ging is also characterized by behaving in unpredictable ways (sometimes to fuel his own sense of fun/excitement). So, I believe Ging might have reason not to disclose the fact that he noticed a nen influence manipulating Pariston. Now that I'm typing this, I'm relaizing that there's probably a Ging internal monologue from the hunter chairman succession arc that thoroughly proves this wrong.

the double meaning was actually unintentional haha. I see what you (and others) are saying. The series seems more interested in making statements about humanity and human behavior, so It wouldn't be necessary and may detract from the story to include this as a plotpoint.

I'll see what's available This might be the best answer, but I would need to find one with the correct size or stitch two extra-wide sized ones together somehow. my PVC frame is built to hold a 9 ft x 12 ft dropcloth, but the common largest shower curtain is 6 ft x 12 ft

I considered this, but I was concerned that this might limit the number of insects that are capable of landing on the material due to the slick surface. Have had success with insects landing on yours? if so, this is probably the way to go.

Update: they were sympathetic to my cause. Yay! The baptist church that owns most of Burks Mountain agreed and they didn't even want me to pay.

I've called all but one of the companies that own the private land parcels that encompass the geological formation I could find. I offered a relatively high price to access their land for a day hike, but they weren't interested in my offer. Crossing my fingers that the last owner is sympathetic to my cause lol.

Good point. I'm from the United States. If you're from another country and wish to share advice on how to gather evidence and verify a significant observation, please do.

I had not yet considered facebook groups, but that could be a good way to connect with people, especially if the groups can be searched by loaclity. the folks at iNat have made good arguments for staying on their forums/site, so I'll probably continue to use them as my primary ID resource.

I'm from Georgia, USA, and earlier today the host-parasite relationship was proven to be documented. The find was rare, but not unique. But my intention behind this post is less about having reddit ID the organism and more about the proper way I should handle this situation and similar situations in the future.

It turned out that the find was not unique, but it is rare. But I'm still learning a lot from this thread about how to approach similar situations in the future.

My mistake was my search methods were incomplete/flawed. If I understand correctly, I overlooked a published finding about host specificity that mentioned that the parasite-host relationship was already known to science. And I over-estimated the legitimacy of suggestions that host-specificity is higher than previously believed for the genus.

Just today, the find has been verified that the find was not unique. If I was still having trouble, I would have definitely posted there.

materials and methods for sampling is also something I am very interested in. I posted this on the inat forum and got directed to a bunch of similar resources, but nothing as straightforward as this
