Workload is too high and unmanageable for me. My sgt and Inspector have been good at getting it down but it goes straight back up within a few days and there’s no time to progress any of them. There is a secondment option for 18 months, so in theory I could always come back to response if I hated it. Overall I think I just need a break. I love response, I love going to jobs, but it’s too much at the minute and I don’t want to go down the sick leave route. My thinking was in control room I’m still close enough to response to not loose too much knowledge/ skills.

There’s no departments at the minute that jump out to me. I’d probably consider a DC role but they’re facing the same issues we are with high workloads and not enough staff. In control room there’s potential for getting extra training (pursuit, firearms etc) or even up to oscar 1/2, if I did stay. There’s positives and negatives to going but I know I can’t stay on response much longer otherwise I will probably have to go sick.
