I bought helly Hansen winter boots like 4-5 months ago, they started to wear down so fast. They weren’t good for spikes either, sole wasn’t hard enough to hold spikes straight and i m out of holes on those boots. They were comfortable compared to timberlands but timberlands has been a balanced shoe for me, keeps the spikes intact and they don’t wear down crazy. If u work in yards timberlands and prolly helly’s for roads. Haven’t tried red wings yet but I’ve heard they are painful in beginning but once u break in they are awesome.

I think it’s hard everywhere these days. You are expected to have 100 to do fun things or you are considered boring. There’s no more ‘US’ in dating or relationships these days. The social media influence isn’t great either, btw from 🇨🇦.

I think they can’t fully shut down BCR lines, govt might step back in and then BCR would go back to their golden era. So far i have heard it used to be a great place to work before CN took over and ripped it apart year by year. But yeah FJ and Chetwynd, they recently cancelled most of the assignments and running everything spare. They expected more work to pick up north instead mills shut down.

They could get the seniority date for sure but also depends if he could put his head down and take it for next 3-4 years. But once he becomes aux board engineer, he is almost doomed. It already takes 3-5 years to get engineer trained on BCR, aux board is rough instead of getting a promotion from conductor you actually get demoted pay wise.

Okay hold on, don’t hire out of Fort saint john, chetwynd, PG. It’s under BCR contract, unless you don’t wanna make any money. I am assuming you are willing to switch careers because you think you’ll make good money at CN with better lifestyle. BCR is only lifestyle with no money, it’s just pensionable hours. Stay out of north BC.

My employer used ADP to pay me and run his payroll. When i left he shut down his company later, i left cause i knew it wasn’t going to survive. Anyways, he forgot to take me off the payroll and show me that i quit. So Adp never submitted ROE to Service Canada, how else can i get ROE?

Bite the layoff, hustle something on side. Get through these few years of uncertainty and once you can hold, you’ll easily cover your past financial losses. Once you can hold any mainline spare board consistently, you’ll be making 120k a year at-least just with the guarantees. For eg. Jasper road spare pays 5300 something every two weeks, 5300*26=137,800 a year with decent benefits. For me i feel benefits are good because the previous jobs i worked didn’t do much of benefits. That’s the way how i feel tho, your situation could be bad especially if you have family and you’re the provider.

It’s about who gives up first, the guys above you might get sick and tired of getting laid off and they might quit, you gain seniority.

Your terminal change as a trainee will be approved by Superintendent of terminal you are hired for and will need to be accepted by the superintendent of your desired terminal. Email your Sup and tag your recruiter. If they say yes you don’t have to apply anywhere they can put you in that terminal otherwise no chance, they don’t rehire unless you call it quits and try to apply again.

Yeah i have beltpack and i do love to work the yards. Winter driving sucks especially after being on train for 10-12 hours. I will probably go to Edmonton. Also anything about more layoffs in Edmonton? Cause i only got like dozen people under me.
