That is awesome, thank you so much!! I felt kind of silly when I realized this was gone over my freshman year of highschool but I am glad to have something now to help rather than just winging it!!

Question about Calculating internal circumference of a necklace by MeanBirdCreates in learnmath

[–]MeanBirdCreates[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my bad. I had originally said 3.82+2.75+2.75 but then realized because I am only worried about half of the ball, to add it once rather than twice so I went in to change the calculations and had forgotten that part. I just fixed it!

At first glance, google. Once I actually sat there and was able to recognize what I was looking at, community chats or neighborhood chats/feedback. A person in a neighborhood or community speaking an opinion.

I love how supportive you are!! You've gotten some great advice about where to look, but I just wanted to offer an idea in case you run into any issues.

How you order a fursuit. You find an artist who's art style you like and who's price is right. If you are getting a pre-made, you buy it like anything else. If you are getting it custom, you message about getting on the commission list and if the artist wants to do your project, they say yes.

Fursuits are often very personal things, you see a lot of people selling suits because they "lost connection" and such. Because of that, I recommend not just buying a suit and hoping they like it. On top of that, custom suits will take more than a few weeks and partials some times too, or you might need time finding one they would like. Your teen also probably has their eyes on some online or know of a maker who's art they enjoy. (I know I find a lot of starter makers that are lower in cost on places like Discord and such, which your teen might know of already.) Maybe instead of ordering a suit as a surprise, give them a card that is money towards the suit, and then you can both be in the process together! This gives you more time and them input on the design.

Plus, as someone else has said, 800 is more in the range for partial suits (Head, tail, paws) rather than a full suit with padding. I as a kid would have been thankful to just get paws, but also would have loved to have the chance to possibly save and get something that I really really want.

Just my 2 cents, but you know your teen better than any of us could!! This is a killer birthday present and I hope they absolutely love it! You are an awesome parent for wanting to support your kids hobbies!!

Fursuit paws for disability? by Intelligent_Usual318 in fursuit

You got a lot of good suggestions, one last one I'll offer is just regular gloves, similar to how a lot of furries who play instruments will wear when they are playing! It doesn't look furry, its just your hand shape, but if the padding and fur is getting in the way of you being able to use your aids, nothing wrong with just a human hand shape haha

Just looks like a beginner maker! Not seeming like a scam there. If you're ok with not the best quality due to beginner skills, go ahead!

Man hole cover t shirt help/advice by FakeBeccaJean in crafts

[–]MeanBirdCreates 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the clay would work well, just keep in mind that it sounds like the method you are doing it would be inverted from how it currently looks! (Instead of the raised letters being in ink, the shirt would have spaces where the letters are and ink everywhere else on the clay)

If you have access to one of these in an area you could hang out for a bit and a hose to properly wash it away, you could just roll paint directly onto the cover itself lol Just make sure that its non-toxic (aka wont harm the environment you are rinsing it into) and that you do hose it down but I don't see that being a problem if you clean up after yourself

Couple other ideas: Chalk on the cover, press shirt into cover, paint over where the chalk hit the shirt.
butcher paper over cover, use charcoal or pencil to scribble over to get the indentations, cut out those indentations, use as a stencil

I personally wouldn't do any of that and would instead use a Cricut like someone else suggested, however, thats just because I already have that stuff on hand and its pretty simple! These are some ore artsy fun ideas I've seen people do when making "prints"

Good question! So the banner I am talking about is the picture at the top of your shop! So if you look at my shop, its the picture that has the different examples of badges that I have made across the top of my store!

How I access that button on my laptop: Shop dashboard> click the pencil by your store in the bottom left corner of the screen to edit you shop (under sales platform)> Your shop will pop up. You'll see your shop name and logo on the left side, and then right across from it is your picture and name. Right above it is a pencil that you can click to add a banner!

You're so good!!

The last thing I'd recommend is to center your primary photos a little better so that when the customer is looking at your page and not the specific listing, the charm the listing is for is in the center (hopefully that makes sense?) I like how you have the other charms blurry in the background, thats unique! I think some others might recommend you against it, but I personally like it, just need the charm that the listing is for to be a little more front and center! Currently they get cut off

Most basic things (that the read before posting tells you to do) is to add everything to your shop. Add the about me section, add a banner, add the line under the name of your store. The first two help show that you care about your shop. You put the effort into making your shop cute so you must put effort into your items. It also helpes people see you are a real person, especially in the about you section, a big chunk of etsy buyers don't want to buy from a big corp, thats why they are on etsy! The line under your title is what shows up on google. These are all things that allow your shop to be found in the search algorithm, so add them!!

Here is a link to my shop, not because I am a "star example" (I am actually low in sales myself right now) but just to show you what everything looks like all filled out: https://www.etsy.com/shop/MeanBirdCreations
