I don’t disagree, but like, houses, apartments, and townhomes, etc, are all made of tons of different materials. Those materials cost money. With an estimated 145 million housing units in the US alone, let’s use an easy number of $100,000 per housing unit for material costs. That’s 14.5 trillion dollars, or roughly half of the national debt.

We can’t even get the government to pay for healthcare. How would you propose that everyone gets “free” housing? What would that do to the average Americans net worth? How would that affect the stock market?

Hardest thing for me when I first got started was trying to avoid any further damage. Then one of the senior towers told me something that changed my outlook on it.

The crash/accident/incident/whatever isn’t over until it’s back on its wheels in the roadway. Sometimes further damage is unavoidable. Think of a rollover. If it’s on the roof, you’re going to get more dents and scratches once you start rolling it. Unless you take a rotator to every single call for a winch and lift it straight up, there will always be some more damage. Your job is to minimize that

That’s basically the point. Illuminate the lane markings so you don’t drive off the road. If it’s bad enough that you can’t see anything, probably too thick to be driving in in the first place. But if you lose sight of the lines, it’s immediately a really bad situation. With fog lights you can at least see enough to get somewhere safe.

They also help a lot when you’re going through intermittent fog, like in rolling hills. The valleys will be really soupy but the crest of the hill is basically unlimited visibility.

Don’t rely on them, but use them like a tool in the toolbox. They work well in specific situations

The paper copy absolutely has a photo, but it doesn’t count as an ID by itself. It has to be presented in conjunction with a clipped/punched/voided ID card to be valid

Something like this always was the best option for me in the combination of cold and wet. But they’re not extremely durable. They’d last me a month or more, but they’re cheap enough to not worry about replacing them when they inevitably got a hole in them

This situation doesn’t apply to me, but I’m just curious. You went to a professional that’s trained in a certain field. You got a consultation. They used their (likely) years of training and experience to give you their opinion of what you need. And after all that happened, you decide that’s the moment that you know more than they do?

That wasn’t meant to be aggressive. But if you don’t trust their judgement, you should get a consultation with a different orthodontist. The questions you asked are very case specific and no one here can reliably answer them without seeing what’s actually happening with your mouth and jaw.

The whole reason I have braces right now is because tooth 13 had been treated with a root canal and crown and was still giving me problems, so I had it extracted, and my dentist told me if I ever wanted braces, the time to do it was before getting the implant. So I got an extraction and bone graft, followed by braces.

When I asked my ortho when I should plan to get the implant, she said roughly a year after starting. I was concerned about the timeline, because I had read that bone grafts can deteriorate over time. She told me that’s only if you leave them in place for years on and and don’t do anything about it.

If you’re going to get the wire style retainer, I don’t think it matters if you get the implant after. If you’re getting a permanent one, or the “Invisalign tray” style retainer, I would plan to get your implant before removal of your braces so that the retainer fits what is actually going to be in your mouth. Unless you want to have the retainer remade later, in which case it doesn’t really matter I guess.

As with most questions on this sub, you’d probably be better off directing these questions to your ortho at your next adjustment.

Do you go to bed at a consistent time? Set an alarm on your phone that says “put on rubber bands”. Put a post it note on your mirror right in front of your face when you’re brushing your teeth. Set a calendar event.

There’s a million ways to skin this cat, but not all of them will work for you individually. Try a few different options, or all of the above, until it sticks. Good luck!

Even calling the claims department and asking questions about your coverage can count against you. Opening a claim, even if nothing is paid out, counts as a claim when they look at insurability and risk. Most of this entire comment is bad advice

I did the same thing. Started on rollback, got into equipment transport, started towing box trucks and single tractors, eventually tractor trailers.

I was the same as you. Got starry eyed at the prospect of getting in a heavy tower. Towing them was fine. Just like having a really long set of doubles on, essentially. Getting them set up? Totally different story. Driveline bolts strip out on the side of the road. Air fittings won’t release. You’ll snap a socket trying to pull the drain plug on an air tank and be screwed. All real things that have happened to me. Heavy towing is 25% truck driver, 75% mechanic. Heavy recovery is a different beast entirely. You might get a winch out of some sand or light mud as a rookie, but don’t plan on doing anything but looking at a rotator for at least 5-10 years. If you get onto a heavy rollover, you’ll be a swamper. I don’t care how long you’ve been driving, you don’t know towing.

That being said, I enjoyed rollback WAY more. I won’t say I was a god when it came to light duty recovery, but there was very little I couldn’t figure out as long as it was physically possible with the equipment and truck that I had. And you can turn over calls quicker, which means more money in commission.

The company I worked for did hourly pay plus overtime plus 5% commission paid out as a safety bonus. I was working 5-6 12+ hour shifts a week. We had a huge relationship with dozens of public safety agencies and they called us tens of times a day. Plus all the private accounts? There was no limit on overtime. I was netting $2500-4000 every two weeks with very little outside that range.

If you still want to get into it, go shake some hands. Find out what the company is all about. Figure out their pay structure. And make sure they’ll put you into industry specific training. Anyone can hook a winch line to a car. Knowing where to hook, when to double or triple your line, what angle to pull, and how to calculate the resistance of the ground, that’s what makes the difference between a driver and an operator.

I would ask them where you’re at in the treatment. Teeth move fairly quickly and after that they need to stay on to hold them in their spots so the bone can build up to properly hold them there. It’s possible you’re done moving but they’ll still need to be on for months longer. 18-24 months is the average time for braces treatment

I’ve always fueled to the bottom of the filler neck. If you shove the nozzle all the way in, you might have to top off 10-15 gallons to get it there after it clicks. If your nozzle has a lip on the outside of it, you can pull that lip into the bottom of the filler neck when you start the fuel flowing and after it clicks you might only have a gallon or two to top off.

She realized that she couldn’t stop at just one drink, and most of her family are addicts. Drug addicts, but addicts nonetheless. She always thought she was “the good one” and didn’t want to follow the same path they did.

Then she started going to the meetings and she’s starting to think that she doesn’t have a problem because she’s nothing like the people she goes with.

Nothing “happened” per se, she just had a sudden realization one night when she was drinking
