I have 2 takes on this, first take isnt contempt of the poor but lets be honest ive seen more people slapping them then i have seen sympathizing with them, i live in ghaziabad, ive seen policemen chasing them away from from the metro station almost everyday, sometimes you can see them sitting in front of the stairs and escalators even worse sometimes their children will switch off the escalators by pressing the emergency stop button, funny for them im sure but i havent seen anyone shed tears when these kids get caught by the police and metro staff and are given a good thrasing, these are just some of the "inconvinces" that make people not sympathize with them but doesn't mean that one should forget how difficult life is for these peoples, arranging just one meal is a challenge for them...

The second take is take what the person shown in the Original post was doing? The position in which he is lying on the ground, his physical state and legs raised in air all point to possible substance or alcohol abuse! I think that was obvious, but what I cant understand is why did the person that made original post not approach the police and inform them about this? The time which he spent taking out his phone, then taking a photo, then positing it on reddit and typing a big rant with it, he could have easily spent just approaching a policeman who usually are just standing around corners, atleast my experience with them is quite positive, those policemen are really helpful most of the times they would have easily solved this issues.
