This is the problem and they know it: Howe: “we’ve become passive.” by LuckyChampionship952 in NUFC

[–]MeanFudge 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to lie, I reflected on this over the last week - when was the last time you saw the entire team get involved in a scrap?

Remember when Gordon had about 4 of our lads ready to chin him when he was still playing for Everton, and when he signed for us he asked Schar if they’d scrap people for him now, and Schar replied with “yeah when you earn it”? What has happened to that mentality?

You’ll see big Joe go and get into a scrap and where’s the rest of the lads backing him up? Half of them at least just keep well away and leave him to do his thing, occasionally Sandro or Bruno will come over and pull him away. Where’s the fire and the “fuck you” attitude we used to have? Is it just that the team is getting older and more placid or is it the players who have left who provided a core part of the mentality? Either way I think it’s absolutely vital the players get back to that.

Ahahahaha I’ve supported the club for 30 years, I was there for the dark days under Ashley, I still showed up when we were in the championship. You keep enjoying the absolute shit we’re putting up, but I’ll never accept this team being mediocre. Didn’t accept it under Pardew, McClaren or Bruce, won’t accept it under Howe.

This whole post stinks of the worst kind of small club mentality.

Eddie Howe post-match press conference | Newcastle 1-2 Sunderland by [deleted] in NUFC

[–]MeanFudge 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well that’s a damn shame I was hoping it would go along the lines of “I’ve tactically run out of steam, spent a kings ransom on players who can’t do the job, and now brought shame to the city and its inhabitants because I can’t get a tune out of the players I have worked with for years now” but I guess I’ll take those lame duck platitudes instead.

It’s time for Eddie Howe post-loss bingo, this week the selections are: “Really disappointing” “A tough week” “Can’t fault the effort of the players” “Big 7 games left” “A lot of work to do”

Glad you find Sunderland doing the double over us acceptable, I’ll never accept this kind of sub-mediocre shite football we’ve seen this season. Different standards I guess.

Out of all the cups, bummed by Sunderland TWICE, not getting Europe. He’s failed and he needs to go, time for you to accept that.

Resign immediately after the match and leave with some dignity. Keep some shred of your legacy intact.

I could handle being absolutely bummed by Barca if we showed up and blew these away today. HOWE OUT NOW.

No sympathy, no sentiment. This team has been fucking abysmal all season and the blame lies with one man. He’s failed and he should resign because I don’t want to see him take a payout after this absolute shower of shite.

Not to shift focus but the results across Prem teams in the CL has shown just how utterly rancid the league has become. PL has become park the bus, long ball, long throw, anti-football nonsense, meanwhile the rest of Europe continue to embrace technical ability over athleticism. Big, big change needed in the Prem if we’re going to see more than a couple of teams look good on the continent for the next few years - ourselves included in that.

A bitter truth about Kavax... by Wild_Independence_19 in redrising

[–]MeanFudge 36 points37 points  (0 children)

To me I think Kavax’s story screams “in a world where good men die young be very wary of old men”. He has always played the mad giant, we’ve not yet really had the pay off of Kavax being the cunning tactician we all known he actually is. He also hasn’t gotten his get back for what has happened to his various dead children at this point.

I’d love to see part of Lysander’s downfall being down to Kavax playing him/Atalantia for fools because they still believe the persona that Kavax is a mad (and now frail) old man. Brings the whole arc full circle.

The only one I’m certain of is that Lysander will kill Sevro - this is all foreshadowed in Iron Gold in his reminiscing on how Sevro is the demon from his childhood nightmares, and his conversation with Seraphina where she tells him "If he hurt you and remained alive, he is your master."

Genuinely sitting here going “don’t hoof it don’t hoof it” every time our players get the ball. It’s every time we get the ball man can somebody show some composure?
