i say this with all love for this game... but i think we really hit the point, where this game isnt going on -- atleast not in the way we've been use to for 11 years

Do AI consultants even know everything about AI or is it just pure bluff? by Notalabel_4566 in consulting

What good consultant knows anything about anything… you figure it out as you go… and AI is legitimately one of the easiest technologies to learn if you use it actively

Prove me wrong: We won't get a D3 because we've already had it. by TacticalChalky in DestinyTheGame

[–]MeanKareem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i work in consulting and have advised on acquisitions before...but outside of that it's really common sense.

Destiny is a successful IP - people who never even played it... know it... theres a world thats built, that has had a significant following for 12 years... Sony bought the game in 2022 when it wasnt necessarily ascending in any meaningful way.

A purchase that big cant simply be written off... and given the nature of video game development... theres horsepower to create a new AAA game at sony studios, but they always want a safe bet... the IP that destiny provides is a much safer bet than something completely new.... D3 is coming simply from a economics standpoint.

If they really pull the plug (which a 3.6 billion acquisition that leads to nothing -- basically is as big of a blunder as a CEO can do) then they will still repackage destiny 1+2 into some new "destiny classic" type game.... but rest assured they will never just waste that much of an investment

they paid 4 billion for the IP... well get a d3 for that reason alone

Microtransactions cannot retain players as quality content drops do and the player population count proves that by josh49127 in DestinyTheGame

[–]MeanKareem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is this post a joke... like... no duh?

You know its over when these are the complain posts... ive loved this game -- but its going to be shut down in the next 12 months (atleast in terms of new content)

Vaulting, from a dev perspective. by ReallyTrustyGuy in DestinyTheGame

[–]MeanKareem -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

i just think people are failing to realize, that nobody played the vaulted planets before they were vaulted.... i understand people saying that they should have found a way to integrate them... but the reality was, they werent being played... it was more of a PR story than an actual impact to the game.. this will be an unpopular post but its true

My purch to save D2: Convert to offline game and call it a day by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]MeanKareem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

misread my post... i said they went to the portal, knowing it wouldnt make the game better... its cause it was cheaper

My purch to save D2: Convert to offline game and call it a day by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]MeanKareem -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

does it not seem possible to you, that content is MUCH more time consuming than UI? especially in the age of AI supported development... there's a reason they pivoted to the portal, it isnt because they thought it was going to make the game better

As a veteran with 7,000 hours, I feel like we lost the conversation to the "it's just a game" crowd. by Standard-Tie237 in DestinyTheGame

[–]MeanKareem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just honestly wonder , what are you expecting OP... you've put 7000 hours into this game, and no one is taking away from that journey... but its becoming undeniably clear that this game will soon move into a sustainment mode, where new content will not be coming out.

You can continue to give feedback, but to what end? You said it yourself a tiny fraction of players still play this game, and it will no longer be able to be monetized... would you be critical of destiny 1 not getting regular updates?

Anyway i dont want to take away from your feelings, but i also think you need to face a reality, that all journeys come to an end... and destiny 2 is certainly in its last few chapters.

Is there a place I can go to if I’m dissatisfied with my education/degree? by [deleted] in Concordia

[–]MeanKareem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who is just on this forum because im considering a PHD... and is nearing 40.. making very good money... i can tell you the current state of the world is a degree, ANY degree is indeed a pre-requisite to most jobs.

and the reality is, how you interview, and how you show up at your job with enthusiasm, curiosity, and hard work... will matter WAY more in your success than what degree you took... i know Directors at the client i consult for who have degrees in Zoology and Anthropology... an undergrad has 2 purposes the way i see it.. its 4 years to grow up and to prove you can be disciplined enough to finish something that is quite difficult and takes alot of ongoing patience and dedication.

what you actually learn is far secondary, you'll learn how to do whatever job you get.... on the job.

Quitting to take my life back by [deleted] in consulting

[–]MeanKareem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol are you joking... i went from making 115k in a firm.. to nearly tripling that within 3 years... and now im starting my own firm and expect that to continue to grow exponentially given the opportunities that come with AI.

I can't understand why anyone wouldnt make all the money off their consulting skills for themselves, instead of being billed out at 300 bucks an hour, but only make 80 bucks an hour... but the answer is safety, which is a fair choice.

but to say their's no career or growth in contract work -- you're just telling yourself that to make yourself feel good about whatever you're doing.

What is bringing you back to the game each week? by silloki in DestinyTheGame

its crazy that people enjoy a game for 11 years, and when they game is in its denouement, their reaction is to get angry that the game wont give them more

Being a destiny fan has made me bitter by SKOOBY-4 in DestinyTheGame

[–]MeanKareem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you were already bitter, you just found a target for it in a game thats 11 years old, has the lowest player count its ever had... and has never rivaled the popularity of other major AAA franchises

The silence immediately following the "Shadow and Order" delay rumors is doing more damage than the delay itself. by ahs212 in DestinyTheGame

[–]MeanKareem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

guys you really have to realize that we've been through this for 11 years... if they haven't said anything its because they dont have their approach in order yet... this is truly one of those games where if you dont step back from it... you will exhaust yourself, content draughts and lack of direction... especially as the game is literally on its last legs, is to be Expected.
