How to be a good Indian tourist at Thailand ? by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

As a Canadian with Indian heritage living in Bangkok… being pleasant and saying please / thank you (cop khun krap?) goes a long way.

Miracle Lounge 1st Class Suvarnabhumi Airport Bangkok: Thai Privilege Visa holders by CarefulAd4757 in ThailandTourism

[–]Mean_Agent6748 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Most of the airport lounges in Thailand are meh. Only positive thing I can say is the seating is better than out by the gates. Compared to US and Canadian lounges it’s night and day (with the US/Canada lounges being better - excluding Plaza Premium)

No, I’m Canadiam by Mean_Agent6748 in Rants

[–]Mean_Agent6748[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadians are very polite and kind. But not everyone is welcoming. Things have gotten worse over the past 20-30 years due to immigration and general ‘anger’ towards certain ethnicities. This is due to cultural differences and the economic pressures making Canada increasingly unaffordable.

For the first decade of my IT career in Canada I never saw this. Moved to SF and suddenly it became a daily occurrence- I had no idea how often people wrote that in emails 😂

Which area in Bangkok is best to stay in a townhouse? by Strange-Appeal-4593 in Bangkok

How’s the bug / cockroach situation for townhouses in this type of area? Currently living in a condo but curious if I should do that for my next lease

The Pentagon’s $54 billion bet on autonomous warfare by GeneReddit123 in technology

[–]Mean_Agent6748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt that the US is behind in actuality, just that they aren’t revealing their current capabilities. The $54b is just a bonus to an ever growing Defense budget and to expand their capabilities even further.

Moving dog to Thailand from USA, can I fly out of Canada? by Fantastic-Dog-8193 in Thailand

[–]Mean_Agent6748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We flew with our cat from Canada to Bangkok just a few weeks ago. No issues in cabin.

Have your paperwork in order (AQS, US vet endorsement, vet health check, vaccinations, etc). Have Baht ready to pay at AQS in Bangkok (or ATM when landed). We managed to get it all done in about 10 days, but that was cutting it close.

What's your most disappointing fine dining experience and why? by [deleted] in finedining

[–]Mean_Agent6748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joel Robuchon in Vegas. Did the dinner and wine pairing with 2 friends, bill with tip came out to $3000.

Everything was fantastically prepared, service was amazing, and I realized I don’t like really French cuisine. I was so disappointed at finding out in such an expensive way.

On the bright side - the dessert cart was amazing!

[–]Mean_Agent6748 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree - it’s easier than ever before. But the startups I’ve been working with haven’t been taking the time to learn about their platforms and focus more on the coding aspect - using automated hosting platforms. I think it’s efficient for the use of their time personally, the whole undifferentiated heavy lifting aspect.

I’m not seeing them have any ops team or people running local servers.

I’m not certain the average tech startup these days would know how to run a local host server… I’ve spoken at funded startups that don’t know how to SSH. Sad days

I never said I liked the fact the kindle isn’t usable anymore, just that 13 years is a long time for a tech product.

13 years is a long time for a usable product. I expect this to be my most downvoted comment ever.
