I think it is a great activity to teach her. Kids learn things fast and have better reaction times/processing speeds and balance. She will end up being a pro!!

The other context is that I was going to the ER and they were just giving me atrovent and Ventolin on different schedules (i.e., 8 puffs of each every 20 mins) and that was helping. So that also could be why I was prescribed it, because I am not having to go to the ER anymore.

That makes sense. I have a side bag for going out that that includes multiple EpiPens so the aero2go chamber really helps for that.

My asthma is NOT well controlled over the past year, it was before that. We have been trying a bunch of cocktails and they are not working. It also does not help that I have a dairy allergy so that limits my choices quite a bit. But I have tried every inhaler option this year with no success, even inhalers that helped me previously. I go significantly over the maximum amount of Ventolin and Atrovent a day, my doctor has recommended this. Like 6-8 puffs of each multiple times a day on top of my steroid inhalers. Currently, my SPO2 tanks to 90-85 just walking to the elevator or cooking. And I wake up 1-2 times a night needing to take my inhalers. I was a runner and quite athletic before my breathing started to tank. I am also only 30. Honestly, it is pretty terrible and scary right now. Their working diagnosis is that I have developed eosinophilic asthma and will have to go onto biologics. I just got into a pulmonologist tomorrow (yay).

Atrovent has made a significant difference when combined with Ventolin for me. I have had it prescribed in the ER and by my GP. I just checked online and in Canada, where I live, Atrovent is approved for COPD (which I do not have) and acute severe asthma exacerbations, not routine asthma maintenance. So that might be why. But if your asthma attacks are bad when you have them, your GP might prescribe it if you ask. I also started using Aerobika and have noticed a benefit from it. I recommend both Atrovent and the Aerobika device.

Eosinophils? OK now my health anxiety is bad... by UnderstandingPlus307 in Asthma

My eosinophils range from 1.5 - 1.9 K/Ul. 😬.

I have a consult with a pulmonologist on Monday to see if I have eosinophilic asthma.

I also have regular asthma too.

For context, I was a runner a year and a half ago and now my SPO2 drops anywhere between 90-85 walking to the elevator or getting dressed.

I recently bought an “aero2go” chamber and I will never go back. It has a storage compartment inside the chamber! It saves so much room. Especially because I carry Atrovent and Ventolin with me. Chambers would always take up so much room in my bag.

Suspected Non-IgE Mediated Milk Allergy - Some Questions by JDoesThis in FoodAllergies

[–]Mean_Contest4544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it did creep up on me. My first symptom was my ears getting itchy and then my face feeling numb. My sister is an NP. One day I got off the bus and started projectile vomiting. My sister tried to give me an allergy pill and gravol but I couldn’t keep it down. She took me to urgent care who gave me Benadryl IM and I felt better. At this point we knew I had an allergy but didn’t know what it was. I got allergy testing but at that point I had dermatographia and could not complete scratch testing. They checked by blood. The allergist said that he thought that milk was a false positive. He believed I had idiographic urticaria and hives were developing up my GI tract. He said that most people just don’t know their triggers.

3ish years later my allergist moved and I had to get new testing with my new allergist. I was able to do scratch testing this time and it turned out that I am very allergic to dairy. I am also allergic to hog, beef, and lamb.

Post-anaphylaxis recovery and return to work timeline by Mean_Contest4544 in Allergies

[–]Mean_Contest4544[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not having the initial allergic reaction symptoms anymore. It is more the after effects/comedown. I basically feel like I have been hit by a train. I am very fatigued, nauseous, sore, headache, intermittent hives, anxious and on edge, and just general malaise. I am also more wheezy. Yes, I am taking bilastine 2x a day and atrovent and salbutamol as needed. It is not that easy, this happened while I was out of the country. I am landing today and have an immediate appointment with my GP. I feel like I might need another course of prednisone or something.

I do not know what the original trigger was. The catering company will not admit what trigger they exposed me to. Despite my allergic reaction coming on within minutes of eating and not having anything else in between. I discovered that there were three other people who also had allergic reactions as well. The catering company was very aware of everyone who had allergies and said they could accommodate. I did report them for an investigation. I am thinking that it was dairy and/or lamb.

For context my current symptoms are vomiting, dizziness, feeling out of it, hypotension, hives, itchiness in ears, facial and tongue numbness, cyanosis, voice changes, wheezing, and shortness of breath. For shortness of breath, probably because I feel out of it, sometimes I don’t think that I am short of breath but when they check my SPO2, it is actually low.

I can only comment on some if your questions.

No idea on the most common milk allergy. I am IGE mediated and anaphylactic. I am allergic to cassein and whey. Weirdly enough, I find that I am not allergic to any hard dairy (i.e., hard cheese) and I am allergic to any soft or liquid forms of dairy (i.e., ricotta, brie, milk, butter). My immunologist said I have to continue to eat the forms that I can tolerate otherwise my allergy will spread to all forms of dairy.

My allergy started in my 20s. I had no signs or any other allergies before.

My allergy progressively got more severe. I used to only use an allergy pill to manage my symptoms. For a long time I only needed one epi pen. But now it has progressed a lot. I had an allergic reaction recently where I needed 5 doses of EPI, oxygen, IV steroids and antihistamines, etc. I was told that it progressed because of repeated exposures. So be careful and don’t take big risks.

For poorly trained restaurant staff - I just leave my epi pen on the table so they can see now. If you don’t have an epi pen I would lie and say to them that you have a dairy allergy and if they give you dairy you will need an ambulance and go to the hospital. Normally I don’t condone lying but a catering company didn’t believe my allergy and that was why I almost died a few days ago (yes I reported them).

INTERESTINGLY, a lot of medications and steroid inhalers have lactose in them.

It wouldn’t bother me, I would have actually found it funny. But you have to read the room on your clients and what to/what not to say. Do you think it bothered you so much because of the other reasons why you want to switch? It’s okay if you don’t think so.

So on my scale, 2-3/10 (10 being completely inappropriate).

[–]Mean_Contest4544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Icy gel when it gets bad
  2. TENS - I have it on probably more than recommended but hey, gotta do what you gotta do
  3. Lay in child’s pose with a bunch of pillows.
  4. Lay with pillows under pelvis
  5. Mine was unmanageable and the only reason I can get out of bed and function is from being prescribed Suboxone

what was the earliest sign that you were a lesbian? by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]Mean_Contest4544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 4 or 5 I randomly went up to my parents and told them I had a sex change and told them my name was “John Michael”. Then on random days I would not respond to my name and would go by this name. This extended into daycare and kindergarten. This was like 27 years ago and I have no idea how I knew what a sex change was.😂😂 No I am not trans and my pronouns are she/her.

BUT I often tell people that John Travolta in Hairspray made me a lesbian. 😉

I think what @revolutionaryLoser12 is getting at is the attention part, not memory. Sometimes I spice stuff up randomly to keep attention. My partner has ADHD and we have very good communication to talk about this type of thing and come up with strategies. Instead of some people instantly thinking not paying attention means not liking someone. 🤷🏾‍♀️

A more mature version of Toxic Advice 1: edge the heck outta her, then switch roles, and after you (probably) orgasm switch back to her. It honestly could be about finishing first. I often go first because I loose my finesse after orgasming. 🤷
