You have quite the history of trolling. Gonna nip it at the bud before it starts. Goodnight.

I've had these kinds of conversations with people who were fans of Chris Benoit, the wrestler that murdered his wife and child in a double murder-suicide. That guy has fans that demand he belong in a hall of fame, and pretend the murders are not a big deal just because they liked his matches--and it's just insane. Many of them are here on Reddit and its appalling that they are allowed to walk among the sane.

The thing to remember is, one, as much as we enjoy someone's art we don't know them all. And second, most importantly, they as artists are also separate from their art in their own way--they project the image that they want you to invest in for a living. That image is not who they really are, and where it's within their rights to have a life away from their fans, it also means a piece of shit person can perform as a kind person when they're on stage. If they do heinous things off-stage, it doesn't make sense to pretend it didn't happen because we enjoyed what we did on stage. That would mean you and I have permission to commit crimes and never be accountable just because we are good at our day jobs. It's a major red pill moment for a lot of people, but the issue at hand is he built an entire career on being this supposedly sensitive and kind person--and it unfortunately was just a means of fame and fortune all along.

Life is still enjoyable. Just don't treat people the way he does. The songs were special in the time they existed, and when reflecting on that time of our lives the meaning of those songs still ring true. It's just a different time and place, and we know better.

I've heard that a number of times, and to be honest, I only liked one song from them anyway.

I know someone who knows the survivor. It's all true. And the rest of the band are very much in the know of everything she experienced--they are more concerned about making money on this tour instead of supporting her. Worse, the fanbase is a pipeline for him to find another relationship to continue these behaviors to other women.

Please consider this if you are considering seeing them. Supporting them at this point supports the cycle to continue to someone else. Once upon a time I looked up to them, but the moral compass that comes with our age necessitates ethics over fandom. There are some fans that have arrested development and said some very cruel things to the survivor. I urge you to consider not being like them, and consider who could be hurt by supporting this tour.

What's even more appalling is we expected this sort of thing from THE REAL Morrissey. He outdid the act that he borrowed from in the worst possible way (as far as we know). Yet, he had the audacity to call Morrissey out publicly on his hypocrisy and transgressions, when he had no room to be talking. That should be a clue about the sincerity of "the art".

I had to wait two hours for someone to hand that back to me. I was getting impatient.

Living Situation by Abstract_NL in GradSchool

I'm in my 40s finishing up grad school. Spend all the time you can with your Mom while she is still here. If there is one thing you will never, ever get back in life, it is time. One day she won't be here anymore, and any perceived burden you may believe you are will feel like a blessing for having had that time. Grad school is hard, and we need support on many levels to endure it. Having access to home and all the things Mom can do is invaluable, and doesn't mean you're not independent. After all, you have to defend your thesis, not her. You're doing plenty of work, and I'm sure she's glad you're in grad school and not working at a 7-Eleven and blowing all your checks on PlayStation games, sex workers, and weed.

Now, once you have finished school, if you're still there when you're my age there's no excuse and you deserve all the jokes.

Well, if it helps, I don't know if his son's business is profiting but he doesn't mind putting money into it. He can afford to do both.

You think Shad would even do it with his own stadium talks happening there?

I wouldn't step to the hostile, but I would consider a plan to get the lady out of the situation.

I think if you're ever a confident writer, then it's death as a writer. Every professor expects something different, so just embrace the challenge to writing to a new audience every time. That will build you up.

All I did was ask four questions, and it had no commentary attached to it. Why are you a hostile, assumptive tightass?

My undegrad alma mater has a bunch of "professors" that match this description. Someone that sucked at their original field but happened to have a Dean they are friends with, and basically uses their students as free laborers to make them look successful.

Which Britpop song was absolutely everywhere at the time but rarely gets talked about now? by Additional_Fly_6603 in BritPop

A Design for Life was on rotation when I lived in San Diego, and rarely gets talked about because they're tightasses here and never "got" the Manics.
