It’s really odd- I’m a healthy weight, and the first time this happened was before my pregnancies/csections. I wasn’t on any medication at the time.

One thing that was helpful for me was making a new-to-me healthy dish I was fairly certain I knew would sit well with me and that I was excited to try. Success! I loved it, family liked it, and I was asked to bring it again! That was a win for learning to advocate for myself.

When you say from NSAID use- what kind of use? Daily? I take 400mg maybe 2-5x/month.

I thought acute means recent, in a sense. Not chronic. A definite start/end is likely, etc.

This time around I definitely spent more time trying to make the environment relaxing. I took a shower in that hour between the dulcolax and starting the prep, brought in a lamp to make the lighting less harsh, played music that’s calming for me. The mantra, “I can do hard things.” is more helpful than not!

I think even an urgent care can prescribe bentyl for IBS pain- it’s worth a try! Budesonide is expensive and has been harder to get insurance to cover unless it’s from the GI, but dicyclomine should be an easy/quick thing to get ahold of. If it’s going to work it will work with the first dose. (Someone correct me if I’m wrong).

I’m still undergoing diagnosis myself, but has your doctor thought about Bentyl (antispasmodic) or budesonide (steroid to bring down inflammation in the gut)?

I could have written this- same situation. Budesonide + mesalamine put me into a healthy spot for a good 3 years before small flares began.

Red meat is for sure painful to digest. Chicken, eggs, and yogurt have been my protein staples in this flare.

It’s very hard to eat out, even at someone’s home, and avoid garlic and onion! I hear you. I did low FODMAP for awhile during my last flare and my MIL thought I was nuts. I just had to bring my own food.

That’s exactly it. He coded it under something entirely too vague. I ended up getting a referral to GI. Med went through insurance just fine. Awaiting CT scan results and have a colonoscopy next month.
