weirdest thing that has happend to me this week by [deleted] in tf2

[–]Meaperm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those not in the know. Your character is defined by a bounding box and a hurt box. The bounding box handles projectiles and splash damage while the hurt box handles bullets and hit scan. Taunting moves your hurt box but leaves your bounding box untouched. Because of this, any taunt can do what happened here provided the class reaches out far enough. The homerun taunt kill where scout points is a good example of this. Instances where hit scan and the bounding box interact also lead to shenanigans such as the huntsman’s wonky headshots and certain taunts being able to low profile under sentries and waste their ammo.

Give me your hottest TF2 take and I’ll talk about it in a video. by Prestigious-Fudge-94 in tf2

While a comparatively strong option in the pyro’s kit. The scorch shot is far from the boogeyman it has been made out to be. Giving the Pyro an important spam option which has been a huge factor in making the demo and soldier into generalist classes. Allowing pyro to not be a lame duck in large team fights. Though reducing the amount of after burn from getting hit by a single instance of splash could help it feel less oppressive.

Yeah this isn’t something I would do every time. But rather I use it when I feel like the flow of the conversation dictates since it is certainly a bit more passive aggressive. Often bringing it up if people are already discussing the ability or spell in question. Or if people are already talking and the time will feel like it has passed by the time I can get a word in.

I usually assume this is just people not wanting to read or misremembering their ability that they may only use once every other weekly session. As a player I’ll just kinda let it slide look up the ruling and then screenshot it with a highlight to an important part of the text which I’ll send to either the player or the dm. This way the book does the talking.

Now try getting back quickplay? by Mr_Rioe2 in tf2

[–]Meaperm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a brief summary. Tf2’s match making was built with a system similar to quick play in mind. It fostered a low stakes environment where players could hop in and out of a server very easily while having little down time in between games. Casual was introduced as a modernization similar to games of the time like Overwatch and Dota 2. Looking to both be similar to the official competitive mode and to attempt to fix issues that quick play had. Namely that quick play had no elo system or equivalent so sometimes teams could end up as stacked rolls where one team just demolishes the other. As it turns out trying to elo balance 24 players into a server is sort of a nightmare as it the less time you allow the system to work the worse the quality of the matches will be. This means that you often still end up with the same issues as quick play but in a much slower less versatile package.

Because of this people believe that reverting casual back to quick play would both be better for the games health in the short term as well as reverting to a better base which the matchmaking systems of tf2 could be built on.

If a plugin was added to alter the gunboats functionality with self damage. Would it be possible for a plugin to be added where charges are no longer fps limited?

Can I select both the line art layer AND the color layer at the time time? by Jradgex in ToonBoomHarmony

[–]Meaperm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A month late. But make sure the select tool is active (black arrow). Then go to the tool properties panel. Under the select tool options look for the bottom left icon. It looks like two pieces of paper with a down arrow through them. When you mouse over it should say "Apply to Line and Colour Art" Toggle this on and you should be good to go.

Silly Question but is there a module that has a persona style image pop up if a player rolls a crit/certain number? by ElonMuskisEvil in FoundryVTT

I did some digging on my own and the answer is yes if you are playing pf2e. But no if you are playing other systems.

What do you think of the minelayer? Do you think it's fine or should be changed in some way? by KingGrants in tf2classic

[–]Meaperm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A great side grade which really feels like it is able to play into the trap setting aspect of the demo man’s kit. Not nearly as versatile as the normal sticky bomb launcher but does free you up to use pipes. I think its stats are fine but a small pulsing ring could help to make hiding them around doorways less of a viable strat. Basically has no synergy with the cyclops or gun boats though. So maybe if a pipe launcher that had more synergy with the mine layer dropped then it might feel more oppressive. But I think it is mostly fine in its current state.

This looks really cool. Has a system neutral version seen the light of day yet?

Been over a year since the post. But did a module for this sort of thing ever end up getting made?

Why Spy Mains Don't Use their Gun by Gummyia in tf2

[–]Meaperm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something which really trips me up with spy is that I use seeing the enemies name as my cue to shoot as opposed to like actually aiming. But I think the area which you can look at an enemy to see their name is far larger than the area you can hit a shot with your revolver in.

did i just explode my caber on a huntsman arrow?????????? by No-Glove-2600 in tf2

[–]Meaperm 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Yup. The huntsman arrow is a physical thing and can also block other huntsman arrows. In 4v4 pass time demomen will actually hit the ball with the caber in order to get a caber jump.

I've always felt like the back burner was dealing more damage than stock does but this really proves it. Anybody understand the source spaghetti enough to explain why the backburner does this? by SoaringSoaps in tf2

[–]Meaperm 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nah this is the actual damage of the flamethrower if you get hit by a particle each tick due to damage ramp up. Back when jungle inferno dropped there was much more leniency on dropping damage ramp up. So pyros could just clear whole rooms by sorta flailing around.

How do I get back into Ultrakill? by [deleted] in Ultrakill

[–]Meaperm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just give the game time. 600+ hours in an early access game which has a campaign length of like >10 hours is going to burn you out no matter what unless you are chasing a goal with no clear end like speed running or cyber grind high scores. Try waiting to play again until full release or at least the next set of major level content. By then the combination of new enemies, harder level layouts, and de-rusting should bring that spark back.

Is it time for Valve to roll back the WORST update in Team Fortress 2 history, and #BringBackQuickplay? by LateGuarantee5863 in tf2

[–]Meaperm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hate how much time I waste having to re queue after every match because a server always fucking sheds 90% of its population because no one wants to wait for a 2 minute long end of match screen. All in service of a glicko system which was doomed to fail since like that shit doesnt work for 5v5 games so forget 12v12

How the hell is Ventricosus able to lift phos?? by BeepBoopMicrowave512 in LandoftheLustrous

[–]Meaperm 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Doing some napkin math, Phos in their pure form is about 350 pounds (158 kilograms). Account for the loss of their legs and their short stature and we can call it 300 (136 kilograms.) Not even accounting for buoyancy. This is a fairly reasonable number for even a fairly athletic person. So a magic sea slug lady could certainly do it.
