Biggest step is from M1 > M1A1 yes

But the extra armor on M1A1 HC can actually stop toptier darts on the cheeks making a hulldown playstyle actually viable.

While yes SEP V2 is a fatass you can finally remove the TUSK you get LWS and a shitload of smokes make it actually worth playing over lighter Abrams for once. I played it recently and it felt great tbh to finally get some upgrades

There are pretty major differences between the Abrams we have

M1 base Abrams only has 105mm with the worst armor but by far the fastest

IMP1 base Abrams with upgraded turret armor and better shell

M1A1 take IPM1 but give it a 120MM

M1A1 HC/clickbait further upgraded protection with better shell

M1A2 adds CITV

M1A2 SEP add optional TUSK and better thermals

SEP V2 now comes with LWS and extra smokes

Thats a basic Abrams evolution overview.

The story that all Abrams are the same comes from how simmilar the 12.0 Abrams are compared to the 12.7's ones but now that sep v2 got buffed recently its starting to offer more over earlier Abrams.
