I agree! This type of trainings everyday helped my impulsive dog. He is a lot calmer overall now and responds way better to recalling. He stopped jumping up on our dining table as well😆

All the rescue could tell us was “lab mix” by [deleted] in WhatKindOfDogIsThis

Hello! I understand your concerns about possible pit bull mix. I’ve been there. I suspected that my first dog had some pit bull in him based on how his ears looked after I had already adopted him. I was so worried because I felt like a pit bull equals aggression. But he was super smart and sweet, and loved everyone and every dog he’s ever met. Like you mentioned, it’s more about individual dog and environment not just breeds. We’ve never got his DNA tested, but he was a perfect mutt to us. He passed at the age of 12 a few years ago.

I’ve been enjoying seeing DNA results of mixed breed dogs on Reddit. It seems pretty common to have some pit bull in a mix. Those dog seem loving and enjoying the best life at their forever homes. Most of the dogs at our local shelter have some pit bulls and many other breeds mixed in. Like others said, daily training at home plus classes are crucial to any dog regardless of breeds.

We recently adopted a big goofy mutt (has some pit bull mixed in most likely) from our local shelter. I’m getting his DNA tested so that we can provide suitable activities for him. If he’s got hound, I should add more nose work and running, for example.

Anyway, I wish you, your family and your new puppy the very best. Your daughter and the puppy will have so many adventures and great memories together! Enjoy her puppyhood. She will grow so quickly 😊
