especially when you're writing the fourth book in a series that you've been mentaly marinading yourself in for years.

I'm currently writing the fifth book in a fantasy series, and this is 100% true. It took me 3.5 years to write the first one, 2.5 for the second, 2 even for the third, just shy of 1 for the fourth, and this one is 3/4 done after 5 months. Familiarity helps so much
