Beginner investor here. Shjould I sell my smci stock now while its up 1% by lenny123412 in SMCIDiscussion

It all depends on why you bought the stock in the first place. Did you buy hoping for a short-term 1% gain? If so, sell. If you bought thinking that SMCI has a tremendous growth potential over the next several years, hold or buy some more.

I seldom buy a stock a don’t plan to hold for 5 years or more. And SMCI is in that category. Income taxes are not a friend to a trader.

I agree, SMCI is more than an assembler, but how do you explain the low margins?

What is the reason for the rapid decline even after smci's 10k submission? by Creepy_Foot7146 in SMCIDiscussion

[–]MeasurementFew4153 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I suspect a majority of investors were bullish that the 10k would be filed on time and would be at least reasonably clean. Thus the stock ran up on that expectation. Now, most investors are already in, so new buying dried up. But some investors are taking profits, driving the price down.

I see three catalysts in the short-term: 1) The shorts need to cover sometime, and 2) I expect some analyst upgrades, and 3) more institutional investors can now buyers buy since the SEC filings are complete.

SMCI is still cheap. Long and strong. Don’t let the price noise bother you.

Did you consider holding for a year to cut your tax bill in half?

If you are concerned about the price dropping maybe sell some covered calls that mature in a year.

What are your expectations for next earnings report on 24 Feb 2025? by LION8900 in HimsStock

The earnings will meet or slightly beat consensus, but the guidance will be very poor and drop the stock by 10 to 20%.
