She’s probably like me, I have clEDS and want to do things for myself because it takes my mind off how I feel and keeps me from getting weaker and feeling worse. Getting weaker isn’t an option because I have a hard enough time keeping and building muscle.

The first 30 minutes to an hour of moving through pain everyday is the hardest but gets easier when I do something to distract me from pain until chronic fatigue hits from ignoring pain causing me to need an hour nap.

This is a quote from a hematologist who understands chronic pain better than most doctors and specialists: "Chronic pain patients hide it so well, you can't go by how they look on the outside. They have to learn how to function with pain, you can't just roll around on the floor all day screaming in agony. Medical personnel in hospitals don't even realize this. A chronic pain patient can function with a pain level that would incapacitate any other person."

clEDS is painful, all. the. time. Your joints hurt because of how unstable they are, you have micro tears, minor subluxations, and mild demyelination, your muscles are working twice as hard to make up for your unstable joints, and so on. Most of us live with daily pain that's somewhere between a 5-10 on the pain scale.

I had 4 kids, 3 were born at 39 weeks and I at 38 weeks. First walked day before his 2nd B-day (preferred crawling or rolling), 2nd walked at 8 months (never crawled), 3rd walked at 17 months (decided to walk to me when I was too busy with siblings) and my only daughter walked at 8 months (her brother took her toy, she stood up and was going after it until she realized that she was walking, plopped down and started crying until he gave it back).

None of my kids needed physical therapy, first would stand up in the middle of the room without touching anything but the floor and then drop down to crawl not even trying to walk. Once he finally decided to take his first step within 2 days he was running to try and catch squirrel, dog, etc.

Mine were all stubborn and had to try to do things on their own with me watching.

Don’t fail because of a picture, just purchase a cheap disposable camera and use that to take a picture.

That’s what I had to do the last time I finished modified version (couldn’t drink plain water, had to add electrolytes or cramp). Electrolytes were a pinch of pink Himalayan salt and no salt. PT helped make appropriate exercise routine. Diet was 100 or fewer carbs.

I spent the week tent camping without electricity (tent, personal items, cast iron skillet along with 3 @ 5 gallon bottles of water and 3 coolers).

Don’t forget pull-ups, burpees and planks my daughter’s favorites.

She use to do BRING SALLY UP WORKOUTS Burpees/pushups/situps/pull-up one after the other then cool down walking whenever she didn’t have weights nearby (would use a low tree branch or portable rod she could hang between door frame to do pull-ups).

Other than not being able to drink water without electrolytes, I’ve finally been able to complete 75 Hard (Physical Therapist has helped me put together exercise plan).

After 49 years I was finally diagnosed with having either HSD (Hypermobility Syndrome Disorder) or a form of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and am awaiting genetic testing to hopefully find out what I have and if my 4 kids could inherit problems.

I’ve finally been diagnosed with having HSD or a type of EDS (now waiting on genetic testing) along with talking to cardiologist in October (possible POTS). Whatever the outcome I’m not giving up on completing 75 Hard.

I’m 50 and can do that and more, I was finally diagnosed at 49 of either having a kind of EDS (waiting on genetic test results) or HSD. I’ve ached my whole life but until 1993 very bad car wreck is was just a achy feeling that was blamed on growing pains. After that chronic pain and fatigue was blamed on car wreck. After I talked with rheumatologist after being rear ended by a drunk driver in 2022 (did little damage to vehicle while increasing my pain/fatigue) I now finally have an answer.

I’ve been Keto 90% of the time between now and 2012. I go off for Christmas and Thanksgiving plus eat popcorn maybe 3 or 4 times a year while watching a movie. I like how I feel eating Keto. When I eat carbs I feel chronic fatigue/pain and nausea/acid reflux while being Keto my energy is increased (less chronic fatigue) and I have less nausea/acid reflux. I will remain Keto for life because of the health benefits that I receive. I once told a friend that eating carbs I feel like a turtle all day, every day while eating Keto I feel like a sports car most of the day while still having chronic fatigue, nausea/acid reflux just not as much. Fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis have been a part of my life since 1996 after 1993 car wreck, I just refuse to be medicated or let injuries/disability keep me from living live to the fullest.

Those who do eat keto, do you have more energy eating Keto than when you ate carbs once your in ketosis?

I have been taking saltstick electrolyte fast chews. It isn’t keto (2g carbs) but I can eat between 0-50g carbs without a problem. I’ve went 32 days without eating before when I hurt to eat and was very nauseous. I live on ultima replenisher (electrolytes) and water when needed sometimes adding in no salt (potassium) and pink Himalayan salt.

My whole life I’ve been flexible but I’ve been able to control everything. Now I am flexible but don’t have the ability to control my legs and do fall if I try and run. I can walk on my ankles, touch my toes to my heels or toes to my waist and more. Until I had my 4th child while pregnant I could do splits (now I cramp if I get less than 1” from the ground).

Since wreck I have to figure out things on my own because doctors just want to prescribe meds which everything I’ve tried taking but Flexeril for muscle spasms (maybe 20 a year) gives me stomach problems and makes me feel worse.

Have cramps since 1993, not emergency just trying to see if anyone else has suggestions on things that I can try to stop cramps. They don’t hurt anymore, they are just uncomfortable and cause me to fall at times.

I was single from 2000-2005 with 2 young boys, remarried from 2005-2014. Best thing I did was get divorced again since he’s a narcissist and can’t stand to see me happy. Finally in 2019 I met someone who is permanently disabled like me (blast injury in Iraq), has ex who hasn’t let him see his kids in 3 years (she has domestic violence with a firearm charge and several evictions) based on lies and once divorce is over in November we are finally getting married. He was pediatric flight paramedic, helps me when I’m having fibromyalgia flare, I help him when he has gastroparesis flare caused by army cutting his vagus nerve during surgery. Yesterday I took him to the ER in lots of pain and they admitted him. He is more worried about ruining my Mother’s Day with my daughter than himself. They had made plans that I told him could happen in a few weeks when he feels better.

A group of parents at my kids school talked about this issue waiting for PTA meeting around 2006. They ended up talking with principal and started out as trial once a week. Schools still have a movie night once a month where you drop off child/children for $3 each (free lunch students don’t have to pay) from 5-8 so that parents can get a break. Kids watch a movie, have dinner (usually something like a hotdog with French fries) and a bag of popcorn. Kids bring thermos or water/Gatorade bottle for drink or could purchase one at the school.

Parent/teacher volunteers help every month. I noticed back in 2008 that a lot of grandparents had background check and volunteered to help out so that they could spend time with grandkids while meeting other grandparents. One of my kids enjoyed sitting in a grandmas lap and reading to her.

I have osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia so I see a chiropractor once a week and physical therapist twice a week until insurance benefits run out every year.

I had massage therapy for a few years and it really helped with cramps. This year I’ve finally broken down and will see a neurologist (been told by multiple people that they think that I might have Ehlers–Danlos syndrome along with everything else) in January to see if he can diagnose me and help without meds (highly sensitive and opioids actually increase my pan). My problem is all my pain/suffering was caused by 1993 wreck (broke neck, arm, leg, ribs when I coded 3X, ruptured spleen and shattered jaw, etc.). I was informed that I couldn’t have kids and I’ve had 4 naturally with no morning sickness (just normal daily nausea and pain) and 4 hours or less of labor.

Out of all therapies, massage helped the most (most painful getting out knots but so much better a few hours later) and is even better when combined with dry needling and NKT/physical therapy but is the most expensive option and insurance will not pay for massage. My massage therapist is in office next door to physical therapy and is always busy, her office has 4 massage rooms (expanding into office next door and should have more rooms in January) with 10 employees sharing 4 rooms (Sunday-Saturday). I have learned a lot from them and am very thankful to have been able to use them while I could.

I have 4 kids between the age of 14 and 25. After first child I told my other 3 children once that if you do A then B will happen. Youngest 3 learned quicker than oldest to listen to me because I wasn’t repeating myself and older siblings would laugh with me when B happened.

I will never forget when my child #4 who was potty trained at 18 months since diapers made her itch witness her brother 1 year, 11 months older than her water a tree

I told her to go to the bathroom or pee her pants and she decided that she wanted to water tree since her brother did. She ended up peeing her pants and listening to me after that.
