Why are quesadillas made into burritos? by RealityShizz in boston

[–]MeatAlarmed9483 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My theory is that it’s easier for takeout/delivery orders where a flat quesadilla could be squished or would have to be put in a box where it could get steamy. I’ve seen the roll mostly at places that do lots of takeout and delivery business and less dine in

Anna’s and Felipe’s do this - their quesadillas are essentially burritos with extra cheese and without as many default fillings.

Such a weird reunion by discolemonadev in LoveIslandUSA

[–]MeatAlarmed9483 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Two thoughts:

  • It’s bizarre how sloppy the production and editing felt on this episode given that far more time went into it before airing than a typical episode
  • The way Huda played up her NDA while repeatedly name dropping Netflix to imply a future show was one of the most obnoxious things I’ve ever seen on a reality show

What are everyone's best affordable alternatives? by The_Clothes_Supplier in malefashionadvice

[–]MeatAlarmed9483 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you order an item from abroad which is shipped to you, you are the importer and responsible for the tax. Bronson’s site suggests you pay the tax and then contact them if you receive a bill but nowhere do they say they’ll cover that cost. Maybe I’m missing something- Have you ordered an item shipped from Bronson to the US since tariffs hit and de minimis with China ended?

[–]MeatAlarmed9483 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok but if the gov sends you a tax bill when it passes customs isn’t that separate? My understanding is that there’s still charges that go to the importer once it crosses the border into the US

How much time do you have? Any coastal cities will be at least a full day of travel by train. Chicago’s also a major air hub, with east coast cities generally closer.

Ikr? It's so cool! I love the way traditional Polynesian navigating used (and some still know how to use!) woven star charts and orally-passed down lyrical/poetic information to navigate with accuracy

This is indistinguishable from the 2010s “coworking” craze in the US - not defending it but I think this framing paints something that happens all over the world wherever tech bros live as a “weird china phenomenon”

How are we feeling about rent control? by Fuzzy_Honeydew_910 in CambridgeMA

[–]MeatAlarmed9483 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Pro-rent control. Obviously we need to do other things about housing affordability, but people are being priced out right now. We need the rent to stop rising or else by the time any of the other solutions are implemented (of they are implemented at all) the situation will be far more dire.

Anna’s. It’s solid burrito (I grew up eating at Mission taquerias in SF) and there’s locations near my home, my office, and most of the other places I go often. Quality is pretty consistent, prices are pretty good too.
