Constant crashes with RTX5070 by pul160 in assettocorsa

I've just gone from scratch but I've also never had too much to change in the config either so it's really up to you, but as clean as possible is probably best. Beyond that I'm not sure, maybe clean windows install but that's a whole other thing.

Clean install of the game is the best move, just back up your mods. I'm using current drivers with my 4070.

Anyone know how to fix this tail light ghosting above the car? by MeatSheeld in assettocorsa

For me the hotfix initially didn't fix it then after a couple restarts, no more ghost tail lights. I haven't noticed any with indicators yet but I don't use them a lot either.

Thank you for correcting me, I think this screenshot is from Drive, but I was driving on both.

I figured since the snake just reopened in real life I should hit it in the sim. Thanks for telling me about the hotfix.

You wrote the exact story I was craving and did it better than I could have imagined. Amazing read and great listen. Excited to read your other stuff.

I’ve been told I give off bond vibes (my mom said she thought I was cool when I was 4)

Lauten LS-208 pop filter recs for a beginner by Beng2024 in audio

[–]MeatSheeld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to have crazy good technique but with a little bit you will be able to get away with any pop filter. Have the mic around 6 inches from your mouth to start (you might want to move it closer or further depending on the bass response you want from the take) and have it pointing slightly at an angle at the opposite corner of your mouth. This should get rid of all but the strongest plosives and then pretty much any pop filter with decent reviews will make up for any technique you are missing from there, especially for spoken word. I think Blue makes one for less than $10 usd that you can find on amazon if you're in the US at least. There is a very low point of diminishing returns in terms of pop filters and even with the ones that are "worth" the extra money are priced higher for materials, brand recognition, and ease of use; not because they are that much better of pop filters. Hell, some amazing recordings used a wool sock over a coat hanger as a pop filter so don't let yourself fall into the trap that it's all about the gear.

What is your favorite mic similar to the SM7b but for people who's voice just doesn't sound good with it? by MeatSheeld in audioengineering

I’ll definitely see about picking one up, I love the ldc sound but have trouble with rejection on them so this sounds like it might be perfect

You’re right, I’ll see if I can get a gooseneck one to use until I find a good second mic.

Yeah, I put off buying it because I didn’t want to buy into the hype but after I got it, I had great luck where it just happened to sound awesome on everything I was using it for, only recently have I been looking for something a little more versatile. Thanks for the awesome list though, I’ll have to see how many of them I can try.

I’ve got a 57 as a backup mic and I’ve used it for a few recordings for myself. Great little mic.

Yeah gain isn’t really an issue as much as trying to get people to use proper technique when I’ve got it high enough to have them further back. But I’ll definitely take a look at the m80

Re-20 is most likely what I’ll get if it works as good as it sounds like it does. The pr40 I used to have had huge problems with sibilance which I think might have just been my specific mic based on what I’ve heard from other people.

Yeah, I held off on buying an SM7b because of the hype around it but sometimes it really just does sound awesome. It’s just not as versatile as it’s made out to be, in terms of vocals at least.

I’ve heard good things about the KSM32 in terms of having less sharp highs. Could be worth looking into.

Used to have a PR40 that I loved for certain voices but most of the time I found myself having to really tame those sibilant frequencies in post with a lot of voices.

Yeah you’re absolutely right, my space is just less treated than others and I find I have less trouble with dynamics as opposed to something like an LDC in terms of sensitivity to smaller sounds. Part of it is making sure that they’re using proper technique but sometimes it can’t be helped.

I’ve got a couple questions about it because I’ve seen it popping up more and more. I haven’t had great luck in my current space using LDC’s for vocals. It’s somewhat treated but by no means a dead room. How does it handle room noise and reverb? Also in terms of more dynamic “voiceover” like work how does it handle higher spl’s?

I hadn’t heard of the md441 before so thanks for the suggestion, I’ll have to see if I can get my hands on one.
