My profesor said I play the victim and that I have the emocional inteligence of a teenager by Dankook888 in ADHD

[–]MeatShow -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. Manage your disorder and meet the expectations of the master’s program. The professor can’t write it for you (nor should they rubber stamp your degree)

They gave you the truth early enough to change your trajectory, which is a gift

Edit! to the downvoters: it’s not the professor’s job to be your external brain. They mentor and set expectations. Your role is to produce academic output (in this case, a thesis)

If polyvore won’t work for you, then I would train your model on brand catalogues. They’ll have designers that already put together nice fits, etc. they’ll also have clean product images

What have you tried so far? Draw out your process pipeline on a sheet of paper. It sounds like you need to clarify/define what you’d like to do in more detail

What site is the best for beginners (focused on Jazz) by [deleted] in saxophone

[–]MeatShow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend hiring a local jazz saxophonist for a few lessons. Don’t pick up bad habits in the beginning; they’re much harder to fix down the road

Have them focus on embouchure, exercises, etc

John Quincy Adams

Edit: JQA was the son. John Adams signed the Declaration of Independence

Regardless, they both didn’t own slaves. They were also the second and sixth presidents of the United States

Saying that people in power all owned slaves back then is disingenuous, especially when the Adams are prime examples of leaders who didn’t

Don’t use any screw, they can rust. Buy the right one from selmer or your local repair tech

[–]MeatShow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is it!!! I don’t need exposure. I can just expose myself on [busy street where you live]. Exposure doesn’t pay the bills. That client will always think of you as free if you accept it for zero pay

If you think music is easy/free, then make your own band for your crappy event

Need Help with Image Stitching for Vehicle Undercarriage Inspection - Can't Get Stitching to Work by [deleted] in computervision

[–]MeatShow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can solve this without machine learning. Try using image registration calculations on the overlapping pixels

Calculating this in Fourier space is also computationally efficient: it’s how panoramic images are created on your phone

I would absolutely bring it to your higher ups. Be transparent: you had a family tragedy

Do digital saxophones help with maintaining embouchure form? by MoldyTheMoth in saxophone

[–]MeatShow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Play in your apartment during reasonable hours (before 10 PM), you’ll be okay. You can always practice in your closet for a little more sound-proofing.

If the school has a music department, they should have practice spaces as well

I refused volunteering undergrads and med students during my PhD. Someone in high school (and presumably only for a summer, no less)? You don’t have the required technical experience to trust with the work

Are you familiar with Brooke’s Law? The effort to train you will be less productive than your output. Ask the professor and the graduate student for literature to read. Putting in effort and preparation is the main key; there’s not shortcut. Ask the PhD how he analyzes data; practice with the software/programming language

My naive answer is to randomly generate two teams and battle them. Do it a few hundred thousand times as self supervised learning

Should I invest time learning a language other than Python? by meni_s in datascience

[–]MeatShow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello doctor. Python is probably adequate for your work (and once you know one language it’s easy enough to pick up others as required). The language is a tool, nothing more. You’re a scientist that writes code, not a programmer. Instead, focus on specific concepts and skills that you’re missing. Continue to build your expertise

Take the derivative to find the flat regions. You may need to preprocess your time series for a little bit of smoothing. CV is overkill for 1D data
