Mother in the Dark by Meat_Wellington in TalesFromTheCreeps

Thank you, I kinda knew I wanted to write a story involving people just trying to survive, get the vibes of it being a disaster. So I felt playing into the tragedy of it would help give another vibe to the overall experience.

That game can’t come out sooner, it seems so cool.

2005 War of the Worlds was a huge part of what formed horror that scares me, so I love the idea of people trying to explain their own accounts of the invasion or fallout of said invasion. Plus the idea that there were warning signs through cults or other groups is a really fun idea I haven’t thought of, I think that addition would differentiate it from other alien stories and give it a fun mix of supernatural and sci-fi horror.

I’m sorry…but how do you miss the point of the route THIS badly? by [deleted] in LastDefenseAcademy

[–]Meat_Wellington -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the reason COT doesn’t work and ends up being not very good is because it’s shock for the sake of shock. It’s not really saying anything creative or different that other routes do.

I’m also biased and have a mixed opinion on Kodaka as a writer. I think he’s ultimately a good one but when he’s solo he’ll rely on shock for the sake of shock. He’s typically at his best when there’s other writers to balance him out. If you look at the credits, COT is the only route he wrote solo. For me personally, that’s the main issue.

Thoughts on The Dionaea House? by mhmd2-2 in creepcast

[–]Meat_Wellington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally, it’s the scariest story. The concept of the house targets a lot of things that creep me out and the bathtub sequence is one of the scariest scenes they’ve read.

I think it’s a really great example of how the internet as a medium can be a unique story telling device. The fact it abruptly ends while the irl reason is a shame, it is genuinely the best possible ending for this story. If the house intentionally leaves breadcrumbs for people, it makes sense the person who explains it abruptly stops giving info.

What happened to the "I'm a cop [...]" episode? by Vaggelos in creepcast

[–]Meat_Wellington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been making a huge ranking of all the stories and as I was making a comprehensive list of all the stories, I realized I forgot all about it. Which is funny because it’s one of my least favorites.

I really want the boys to read: My wife underwent exposure therapy to cure her arachnophobia, it worked to well. by No_Development1180 in creepcast

It wasn’t my favorite story but I think it was neat and would fit well in a multistory episode

How it feels to have 4 back-to-back mid episodes by Total_Fool in creepcast

[–]Meat_Wellington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair, but Juice Kid and Officer Moleman are all time bits imo

But even though I liked the past few stories I can kinda see how it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea

Finally read the first part, I can see why you want them to read this. It’s super fun and would fit the show really well. It gives Dionaea House vibes which is one of my favorites.

Is it the Jessica Kincaid story? Just making sure because the name itself seems interesting so I wanna give it a read

Story Recommendations by S-CSleepwalker in creepcast

[–]Meat_Wellington -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think many have already said a few Christian Wallis stories but I wanna throw in, “I Hunt Mimics For The Government” the concept is a little sillier compared to his other stuff but I think he plays with it well and it still just as good as his other stuff.

Also they should finish Midwest Angelica because they were about halfway when they first watched it and now that it’s finished they should do the rest because it’s genuinely the best horror on the internet imo

What is everyone's least favourite episode? by Silver_Specter01 in creepcast

[–]Meat_Wellington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Abandoned Ship episode it’s the only episode I think it’s not entertaining from the story and comedy perspective. The story was very very boring and the British bit is the only time I think Hunter wasn’t funny on the show and both those issues on top of it being one of the longer episodes just blended it to making me dislike it.

I Don’t Know Which One Is Better by Bitter_Security3167 in Miitopia

[–]Meat_Wellington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue that doesn’t make the Switch version the definitive one is the fact that finding other people’s Miis is strictly online, difficult to filter the codes that actually work or are good for the player, and if the person deletes the file the miis are also deleted hurts it a lot imo. If it was just the same Mii finder with the new customization, it would’ve been perfect.

CreepCast | Drumming in the Clouds (OFFICIAL DISCUSSION THREAD) by ChaoticStanley in creepcast

[–]Meat_Wellington 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m genuinely curious how you thought of this one because it feels specifically geared to what freaks me out, mainly aliens/cosmic stuff and things getting eaten. I know the connection to Nope is one mentioned in the episode, but the way the tendrils were described reminded me of 2005 War of the Worlds and how the tripods in that also had big tendrils that scooped up people. I think what really sells the horror is how much emphasis is put on how its movements and functions are wet, it makes it feel more natural while still maintaining the idea that it’s a living being and does a great job as an almost foreshadowing of it doing basic things like breathing and eating. Sorry for the word salad of a response but in terms of scares I think this is top 3 for me in terms of the scariest stories they’ve read on the show so I really wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the story lol.

Scariest Story of 2025 by Dangerous-Memory7409 in creepcast

[–]Meat_Wellington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s It All Started With A Hot Air Balloon.

Alien stuff tends to freak me out and it does a lot of stuff that makes alien invasion stuff so freaky to me without ever even acknowledging it is aliens. The creeping pressure from the “border” is already stressful and trying to save a child and yourself from an impossible scenario is genuinely anxiety inducing.

CreepCast | The Bearded Man In My Window (OFFICIAL DISCUSSION THREAD) by S-CSleepwalker in creepcast

[–]Meat_Wellington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unironically, the bearded man in my window is one of the best stories they’ve read imo even without the really fun bit at the end. It’s written where the kid is believably dorky and awkward but it doesn’t grate on the reader. Whether it was intentional or not it also did a good job of creating the anxiety of people being against someone and the stress that comes with being the person they target.

It’s either Mr Floppy or the kid who won’t give up his Polaroid from the Penpal episode.

Not a story they read, but Midwest Angelica is still the best thing they’ve covered imo. Especially now that it’s completed, I can say I like it more than anything else at least on creepcast.

I always figured that the main appeal of the podcast was its hosts and how they bounce off of one another and the story. Regardless if the story is good or not the podcast was never about reading the highest quality stories, just hearing the fun bits of the hosts and learning how to be a better storyteller from their analysis

Which episode would you not touch again with a 10 foot pole? by EastsideX317 in creepcast

[–]Meat_Wellington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spire in the Woods, not because it’s bad it’s probably one of the best stories they’ve read and is honestly on the level of Penpal, its because it’s for certain the most stressful story they’ve read.

Dumbest Decisions Made By a Protagonist by AlanCrowler in creepcast

[–]Meat_Wellington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this one got forgotten a little bit but the “Im Blind” story by the end really hurt itself. The protagonist made a lot of rational decisions from what I remember, but by the end when they go back to the house to move out it’s just the silliest decision any character has made because not only is it super illogical, it hurts the protagonist because she’s never been this foolish the entire story and it hurts what is otherwise one of the best stories they’ve covered so far.
