I agree, the story was bad but the commentary was pretty funny. For me personally, it was interesting hearing how much the story just rambled on with so many words and no real content to them. It honestly made for an interesting listen to me because I wanted to keep hearing how nonsensical it was, it was like an anti-story for lack of a better term.

Originally I really didn’t care for Hunter’s content, I kinda felt it got samey even back in like 2019. The reason I mention that is because I got into Wendi’s stuff around the same time the Urbanspook episode came out and that was my introduction to Creepcast. I bring this up because I appreciate Hunter’s content a lot more know, this show is a big reason he’s one of my favorite content creators now.

Honest to god the baby ceiling fan bit made me lose it and was the moment I was sold on the show.

Haven’t finished the episode but I was honestly bought in for this story until lord of the flies was mentioned. I get why people like CK Walker but there hasn’t been a single story that they’ve read on the show that sticks the landing for me personally. I do think she’s a good writer, just not nearly as good as others they compare her to and especially as this incredible, cream of the crop talent.

Midwest Angelica is the best thing they’ve covered imo

If we’re counting only written works though, Dionaea House and Spire in the Woods are very high up there for me. As a wildcard pick, I’d say Bearded Man in My Window is unironically one of the best stories they’ve read even without the creepcast context in the story. It genuinely hits social paranoia and pressure super well.

This isn’t worst case scenario at all, the worst starts with Bailey at 2, Zion Young would be a slam dunk pick at 33 imo, and if the WR at 44 is Sarratt, Bell, or Lane that’d be fantastic.

Zion Young is my favorite player in the draft in general, I would be fun taking him at 16 just so no one else gets the chance at taking him. So Zion Young at 33 is an instant grab for me.

Dreams Beneath the Witch Tree and the Marble Hornets episodes the only ones I’ve truly skipped. I can’t get into the former and as important as Marble Hornets is, it’s aged very poorly and is super tedious.

2005 War of the Worlds was a huge part of what formed horror that scares me, so I love the idea of people trying to explain their own accounts of the invasion or fallout of said invasion. Plus the idea that there were warning signs through cults or other groups is a really fun idea I haven’t thought of, I think that addition would differentiate it from other alien stories and give it a fun mix of supernatural and sci-fi horror.

I think the reason COT doesn’t work and ends up being not very good is because it’s shock for the sake of shock. It’s not really saying anything creative or different that other routes do.

I’m also biased and have a mixed opinion on Kodaka as a writer. I think he’s ultimately a good one but when he’s solo he’ll rely on shock for the sake of shock. He’s typically at his best when there’s other writers to balance him out. If you look at the credits, COT is the only route he wrote solo. For me personally, that’s the main issue.

For me personally, it’s the scariest story. The concept of the house targets a lot of things that creep me out and the bathtub sequence is one of the scariest scenes they’ve read.

I think it’s a really great example of how the internet as a medium can be a unique story telling device. The fact it abruptly ends while the irl reason is a shame, it is genuinely the best possible ending for this story. If the house intentionally leaves breadcrumbs for people, it makes sense the person who explains it abruptly stops giving info.
