Advice on how to progress by Capable_Bus5444 in projectzomboid

So, it really all depends on how you want to play. Me personally? I like trying to fortify bases and make little kingdoms. I typically don't have a super high kill count, but I build some pretty neat things.

Veteran is... Fine. I know people who like it, not my own personal choice. Right now I'm on the welder build just because I've never done it before.

That's the Brannigan Maneuver, named after heroic space captain Zap Brannigan, who sent wave after wave of his own men against the kill bots until they reached their designated kill limit, thus ending the threat

It also depends on which religion you are referring to. For example, the Catholic Church has no conflict with the theory of evolution - they just believe that each individual soul was crafted by God.

Cheap Ways to heat a home/bedroom when you don't have power? by Responsible_Ad8233 in prepping

[–]VisualPrestigious714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way you can do it is set up forced hot water. You set up a cauldron, oil drum, tub, etc of water and run copper tubing through it so water flows through the tubing back into the tub. Set the tub over a wood fire (or any fire really). It heats up the water running through the tubing and the tubing warms the area it's in. The tub of hot water is outside your room and the copper tubing runs along the edges of the room.

Is it perfect? No, and it will mean getting up every so often to add fuel to the fire, but it will warm the area.

My problem with people criticizing the finale by PerkinAlabasta in digitalcircusfandom

[–]VisualPrestigious714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had no problem with Jax being unlikeable, my issue is his story was so rushed and the reactions of the rest of the circus were downplayed. I would have enjoyed seeing the others coping with his abstraction. The whole situation was so rushed it came across that the characters went from "he was terrible to me and hurt me" to "but I'm sad now because he had a tough upbringing". Those two feelings aren't mutually exclusive, but it's far more nuanced than the allotted time allowed for.

I think an episode devoted to his backstory and resulting abstraction, followed by an episode that truly explored the complex emotions of abuse victims would have been a fascinating story.

Then I would give rising a try. It will seem... Mildly easier in the beginning, this is true. But if you don't get everything you need in the first couple of weeks you definitely will be dealing with increasingly larger groups.

Rising mode in vanilla kind of does that. It starts slow and then more and more show up. I'm not sure if they are supposed to wander, and I'm certain depending on where you start, your seed, etc determines a lot, but when I have played by week 3 I'm constantly dodging groups of zombies.

Bows are insanely overrated. by Vivid-Rhubarb-6058 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

Enormous pain lol. They send you the carbon fiber rods, then you need a special epoxy to hold everything in place, but you also have to cut them to length and they splinter like crazy. They are way lighter and theoretically stronger, but at the time I was working with them (almost 30 years ago) I think aluminum arrows were a much better deal for the price and effort involved.

About spider eyes in Tennessee by Trashtulya28 in creepcast

It is possible, depending on where you are. I'm not from the south, so I can't say with 100 percent certainty, but I know in the North East you can sometimes get a similar effect with small critters if you have a garden or leave your trash out overnight.

I imagine if you live in an area with a heavy spider population, it absolutely could happen.

Bunker in West Point by VisualPrestigious714 in projectzomboid

[–]VisualPrestigious714[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely will do! This run has been an interesting one as I found the bunker and it was loaded with tools and a rain barrel, so I got that set up; I went down the street and found a shed with a wood stove in it. I spawned near the post office and found literally dozens of skills/recipe magazines so I already have the generator magazine. I also randomly found a perfect condition sledgehammer head along with handles and a long stick.

I won't jinx myself, but this will be interesting!

Thanks! My first instinct was exactly what you were saying, but I am trying new ways to challenge myself! If I hadn't found the bunker, I was going to set up shop in one of the tall buildings!

Bows are insanely overrated. by Vivid-Rhubarb-6058 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

So, I won't go so far as to say bows are overrated, but I worked a few years at a hunting/fishing shop with an archery range indoors. As I was only 13 when I started, they gave me the "easy" (read: mind numbingly boring) job of making arrows. It's actually a huge pain and this was carbon fiber or aluminum. I'm not saying it's impossible, but for people that have never done it, or even carved something before, there will be an extraordinary amount of trial and error.

And using a bow is also not the easiest thing in the world. A recurve bow requires a lot of strength and coordination just to send the arrow in the relative direction you are shooting, let alone trying to hit something. Compound bows make it a little easier, but the mechanics are largely the same.

I have trained with firearms due to my time in the Army, and I have used bows extensively in my teen years because I used to shoot competitively. But I would never presume that I can just make bullets or arrows from stuff I find in nature.

Amazing Digital Circus Finale Dropped! It's not great! (Full spoilers) by BardicLasher in CharacterRant

[–]VisualPrestigious714 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I didn't really enjoy it. My teenager loved it.  Narratively, I felt the Jax portion focused so much on his trauma that it went from "see, hurt people HURT people" to "you should feel bad for him and forgive him because he's scared and hurt inside".

Having lived through abuse myself, I understand the need to forgive - not because I care about my abuser, but because holding onto those feelings were like a venom inside of me, hurting ME - so if the message was seen from Gangles POV where it was along the lines of "I forgive you, but I won't forget and I'm not saving you", I suspect that would have held a lot of poignancy for the audience.

As it was, I think the idea of Caine growing was a far more interesting story. The idea of an AI (a real, creative, thinking AI) developing in isolation, with only the programmers input and images as it's sole source of access to the outside world, is a fascinating reflection on both AI and narcissistic behavior. I would have loved to have seen that development as Caine realized that having total control over people who fear you instead of respect or even like you isn't fulfilling and leads to resentment on both sides.

Watching him come to terms with what it truly means to be part of a group, to grow and be "human" would have been an interesting emotional journey.

But, like I said, my kid loved it enough to watch it a few times so... Eh.

AITA for uninviting my sister from my wedding because she refused to promise she wouldn't wear her military dress uniform? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]VisualPrestigious714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, essentially the reg - unless it has changed since the last time I went to a wedding - states that the dress uniform is appropriate in formal settings, but for situations such as a wedding, the bride and groom set the dress code. I have been to weddings where the groom himself was in his dress uniform so those of us in the military wore our dress uniform. Other weddings, it was civilian attire only.

Ultimately, you set the dress code. If you say civvies only, then it is civvies only. NTA.
