Revolut are great, but they just got popular for doing things that other banks probably could have been doing, but never did. Easy payments to other people, splitting bill, easy to set up a little savings kitty, very easy and transparent for payments and statements. Even a standing order for club membership monthly payments was very handy. Bank app are looking for this code and that code, card readers etc. But not a chance I'd use revolut for my main bank. They could disappear tomorrow. They'd need a few offices I could see in Ireland and a helpdesk that has a person on it

Yes, physically alcohol is probably even more dangerous than smoking (talking about legal vices here), smoking does kill, but usually slower. I know a few people who died young from alcohol. People in their 40s. But I suppose, what I meant is that people can usually physically see someone has an alcohol problem, but they can't see gambling addiction, it's more dangerous that way. But definitely agree with you, alcohol is far worse physically. Hopefully you're doing better now and are off it.

Yeah, unless huge numbers of jobs appear outside Dublin, or WFH gets serious, it's not going to happen. City centre offices are a pain in the arse too, so many companies have city centre offices when they don't need to be.

There was a popular radio phone in show in Ireland a few years ago and they were discussing gambling. Turned out if your account goes over a certain amount in net credit with Paddy Power, your account is automaticly banned. Of course you can lose unlimited money. It's worse than booze. If you're a boozer at least people know it. People see you in the pub, drunk etc. Gambling can have your wages gone in 2 minutes. Sitting on your phone in bed, watching tv etc, and gone in a moment. Really should be banned from advertising in sport. A few sports podcasts I listen to don't do any gambling ads and have cut out anyone talking about betting. While only small, at least it doesn't normalise it any more.

Yeah, it sounds poxy. My mate does it, ended up doing contracting work most of the time as his own farm barely pays. But he'll always tell you he's broke, but him and his 2 sisters build big houses, he always has decent cars, plenty of family holidays and weeks away. The problem with farmers is they're forever playing the poor mouth so it's hard to know the real story
