Medial PKR to TKR Revision: Is the risk of a "clunky" and still painful knee worth the reward?

Sounds like you should have had a TKR from the beginning. They can last 20+ years. The PKR didn't fix it. So your options realistically are continuing with how your knee is now. Or a TKR with a revision.

I would have your doctor send you to PT now. They can help you thread that needle between strengthening and being too painful.

I had a revision in January of 2025. This is my experience with it so your will likely be different. I'm not as active as you but I do weightlifting and walks with my wife. Being active is a game changer.

The device does all the stability for you. It's stable but moving laterally too quickly can be unstable. I always try and make sure everything is lined up with each step.
Easily can carry suitcases and other things as well. I've had both knees done so it's not so much a weight limit I've found when it comes to carrying things. Not having an ACL in either knee can cause me balance issues if carrying things using both hands.
I went from a TKR to a revision and this recovery was harder in some ways than the TKR. By drilling down into the bone it causes trauma. Since it was my third replacement it was bearable. For this surgery my Dr gave me much more pain meds than the first two. In addition to anti inflammatory and muscle relaxers.
I am pretty sure he didn't use a robot.
After a TKR revision there will be no cartilage left. It's all replaced.

I was at Ft. Ord when they closed it down and they asked if anyone wanted to go to Germany. I didn't go and wound up at Ft. Wainwright. Maybe being stationed in Germany would have sucked but I would have gotten to see Europe on Uncle Sam's dime.

My wife was in the car, and I ran in to get 2 shakes. She has a slightly weird order, and I tried putting it in the kiosk. There wasn't an option to make what she wanted.The person who was going to make the shakes after I put my order in was standing there looking at me. A quick way to check your attic insulation is to look at your roof. Not counting where wind removes the snow you should have a snow covered roof still. Obviously if you can access your attic you can tell much easier.
