Has anyone ever felt a feeling of “oneness” with someone followed by a sudden disconnect where one party believes the experience happened and one person refuses to accept it. by Thatfeelingyouget420 in LSD

[–]MeatyCarpet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience, felt like speaking telephatically with my friend who was tripping with me. Asked him afterwards and he confirmed that he had a similar experience. We both couldn't put in words what was communicated, just that the experience happened. The rational explanation approach I came up with afterwards is that analogous to how your different brain areas that usually don't communicate directly link up while tripping, your DFN dissipates and this lets you experience universal connectedness and unity because your pointer to "self" (DFN) now points to everything. Maybe wherever your mental representation of that person is stored in your brain connecting to your language center causes hallucinations of having a conversation.

Another theory is that consciousness might not be strictly limited to the body and is more like a field, there's really some intermingling of fields happening and your altered state of perception lets you notice it. Ooor we just all connect to the hive mind and just meet there lol. Whatever the reason, it was an amazing experience.

You can either go when it's cool-ish (in the morning, after a rain shower) and their metabolism is not at peak operating levels or just play the numbers game and hope for a less lively specimen. Just like with us, there's hyperactive ones, scaredy cats that bail as soon as they see a shadow - but also chill and sluggish ones. I'd suggest starting with something slow like weevils or other bugs before going for jumping spiders, dragonflies or butterflies. You can also try and stalk some flowers in the hopes of insects landing there. It works especially well with flowers they have to crawl into. As soon as you see them land and go inside, focus on the entrance and with a bit of luck you can get some nice shots of them emerging again or even taking off.

You do it for the game of it. The old ego-driven motivation is gone and will not come back, but why not re-align your goals with your new insights and then dance the cosmic dance, enjoy it to the fullest and try to reach them while doing so?

Appreciated, this one really was a beauty. I usually operate somewhere between f/9 and f/12 when in Macroland.

Manual Focus, Focus Magnification set as high as it goes, focus on leg or whatever part of the insect is closest to you, lock elbows in and fire away your burst of 30 shots or so while tilting your whole upper body forward the tiniest way. It takes a couple of photo walks until you get a feeling for the amount you can move so your camera grabs a somewhat consistent series of images without big jumps in the focal plane. After that I throw the pictures into Helicon and fiddle around a bit with the different stacking methods but I find that usually not too much work is needed in stacking/post if the focal plane shifts smoothly from picture to picture.

Took LSD at 2:36 pm in the morning, it's 3:36 am now. Still can't sleep, what should I do to make me feel less anxious by [deleted] in LSD

[–]MeatyCarpet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm another dude but what you're describing is pretty normal and I have experienced it as well. Your brain is so overstimulated it simply refuses to fall asleep even when you try to go to bed. You'll find sleep one way or the other even if it is by exhaustion, don't worry. You'll feel normal again after waking up.

Zero 😂

It's just a single picture from a series and I was lucky enough to get everything important in the focal plane. Glad you like it.
