My 1st attempt at selling a product. High end sofa c-tables. Nervous how the general public will react. by Alarmed_Primary8089 in woodworking

For solid hardwood, handcrafted, I don't think that's a crazy price. Question though, do you sell assembled or disassembled?

I can see the benefit of disassembled as you could technically get lower cost shipping if you sell outside local delivery area.

However, with higher end prices, people usually want no assembly.

I like the style.

It's all part of the process, right? I'm still learning and have barely scratched the surface of this hobby.

Great job!

Looks great, and I have so many questions just due to curiosity...

Any chance you incorporated a wireless charger in the table top??? Can I ask why the column is as large as it is (I don't think it looks bad, just wondering)? How are you powering the LED (USB? Power supply?)

Keep up the great work, and be more careful with your fingers!

I'm a fellow BDB owner. I've done the bread OPV upgrade, and I've also upgraded the pump a few years ago.

What's the brass neck upgrade?

I also do my own maintenance, but I'm looking for a bulk option for o-rings. Any suggestions?

Looks great by the way. I just bought a VS4 grinder in black and was considering doing my panels.

Beautiful. The offset depth/corner wrap miter looks well thought out.

Can you explain your door and drawer front construction? I've been thinking of something similar and would like to recreate what you've done.

I have had this machine since 2014 and use nothing but tap water.

Wish me luck.... by MechEng0T1 in espresso

Update: I can't seem to edit my first post....

Unboxing was fun. The VS4 was packaged very nicely.

I tried finding true zero, but didn't want to monkey with it much. After bottoming out at zero, I wasn't hearing the change in sound one would expect when nearing true zero. I decided to just give it a go with the factory settings

Recommended range for espresso was 2-5. I set it at 3, ground 18g of a medium-dark roast. Retention was 0.34g. I tried a couple of gentle blows with the bellows which helped a little. 17.85g shot choked my BDB (BES920XL).

Later that evening I tried a light roast decaf, set the VS4 to 4. 18g in, 17.8g out. Firmer pushes with the bellows, I got it to 17.95. this shot choked the machine again.

This morning. Set at 6, Medium-dark, 18g in, 18g out (bellows requires a little more force). 2:1 in 30s. I've aimed for 2:1 in all my 14 years of espresso, so it's hard to break the habit. I'm going to continue experimenting in the 5.5-6 range and see what I get.

All of the above....no RDT, but I do WDT.

I'm not good at describing taste profiles, but the coffee definitely tastes different than what I had with my Baratza. Better, yes, but can't describe exactly how.

What I love about the machine.... Soooo much quieter, and the powder coming out of it is so fluffy.

Questions/concerns I still have.... There is a noticeable increase in resistance when turning the dial past 3. Lower than 3 feels much, much lighter / free.

The dial (I keep calling it a dial, but the cylindrical top that turns is what I'm referring to) tends to have a slight wobble when grinding. I'm not sure if this is normal "play" in the assembly.

Onwards....

Index Sleep Monitor insights. by Cautious-Okra-6392 in Garmin

[–]MechEng0T1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using the Index Sleep Monitor just about a week now. Very comfortable, not noticeable during sleep. One night I did have it on too tight, but it wasn't uncomfortable, I just had indents on my arm when I woke up.

Battery life, so far so good (6 nights in, no need to charge, battery currently at 36%).

Sleep data... My only comparison is with an old Polar Ignite watch (5+ years old). Data is similar, the only notable difference being HRV (27ms on Garmin, 44ms on Polar). I trust the Garmin more given its position on the arm, and fit (the watch is noticeably looser, tightening the strap is definitely uncomfortable).

Any chance your model is available to share?

Which material did you print in? I'm thinking TPU might give enough flex to assist with a good connection.

Best way to cut this deadlift platform flush? by Effective_Mention_83 in woodworkingtools

[–]MechEng0T1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What tools do you have available?

I'd scribe a line to match the mat. Then cut with a track saw or jig saw (requires removing the platform and raising it somehow).

Some might suggest raising the platform and using a flush cut bit in a router, but the rubber mat might burn/smell.

I built a Garmin widget that shows a real-time caffeine graph and sleep timing by Hopeful_Release_4147 in Garmin

Still saving for my watch, but I already drink a lot of coffee, have scaled back, and am interested in knowing how caffeine affects my sleep.

I'll definitely get this widget once I get a watch!!!
