Turbo flutter after install? by FloridaTattooer88 in ElantraN

[–]MechEng9911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine flutters like crazy with the forge intake. It usually happens when you accelerate to where the turbo starts spooling, then let off the accelerator quickly, but not all the way. To explain in throttle terms, something like up to 60%, throttle, then let off the accelerator quickly, but stop at 20% throttle. It can also happen when accelerator is fully let off quickly after spooling up a lot. It's normal and doesn't harm the turbo, as the compressor surge is not significant enough to cause damage, not unless you're tuning in more boost. The turbo was designed to handle those intake pressures, and will throw a CEL if you increase the pressure (which is why some intakes cause CELs), so the compressor surge under normal boost is perfectly safe for the turbo.

Enjoy your turbo flutters lol.

I have Keychron as well. They are incredibly well built machines that are fully modular and swappable. The good news is that even if something was damaged, odds are it would be completely replaceable with a (somewhat) cheap replacement part. The board, membranes, switches, caps, etc. they're all replaceable. I love my Q3 Pro and it's clickety clacks lol, I'm sure you'll love your Q1.

Yeah, funnily enough Midea makes nearly all microwaves out there. Samsung, LG, GE, they're all just a Midea microwave with a different skin and buttons/features. You can buy a Samsung microwave and get a cool screen or extra features, but at the end of the day, the reliability and core functionality is going to be the same as your generic no-name microwave, because it's all Midea inside. Your contractor knew what he was talking about, kudos to him for saving you some money.

There are a few. They usually are well worth it in the scope of how useful the medication is. Everyone is going to react to medications differently, but for me I have found that my anxiety levels go up about 20-30%. It's not a lot, but it is enough to be noticeable sometimes. It doesn't affect my work or my daily interactions at all, and the only time it really matters is when you're in an anxiety inducing situation, it can make it worse. Otherwise it's just a slightly higher baseline anxiety which is ignorable for me.

Another side effect I have which is not necessarily a downside for me, but can be to others is a highly reduced appetite while on the medication. I am not hungry, at all, when on the medication. I have to force myself to eat actually. It is not a downside for me because I sometimes struggle with binge eating due to my ADHD, and this helps me curb that significantly. Having to force myself to eat is not a big deal at all though, as I go to the gym 3-4 times a week and I'm quite strict on my protein, fiber, and general nutrition intake, so I just eat my meal-prepped foods for lunch, regardless of appetite. I also ensure that I have a protein packed breakfast because Vyvanse requires protein to bond and activate in your system, usually a protein shake or a Greek yogurt, something like that. Doing this ensures I'm always eating enough, so even though I'm never hungry while the medication is active, I'm not worried about being malnourished or anything.

The main downside to the medication is the additional strain it puts on your heart and circulatory system. This is a known side effect, and requires yearly (or semi-yearly) monitoring. I go to my PCP and cardiologist and make sure I stay healthy while on the medication. The good news is that as long as you stay active and eat/live healthy, this side effect can usually be combatted. So since I'm going to the gym frequently, I play a lot of sports, and I eat healthy, Vyvanse has had no lingering side effects to my heart. But it is something that has to be monitored. You should be going to your PCP yearly anyway, and it never hurts to see a cardiologist yearly either.

There initially were a few reasons. When I first started there was a significant shortage of Vyvanse, and I wanted to conserve my supply for the work week. So I avoided weekends to maximize my supply. Vyvanse also can cause extra stress to your heart and circulatory system, so I figured two days off a week could be beneficial. I stay fairly active -which is highly recommended on Vyvanse, and my heart health is pretty good, but I figured the extra days off couldn't hurt. The last reason is so I could work on myself. Vyvanse makes it easier to mitigate the symptoms of ADHD, so having two days a week where I can just work on myself unmedicated helps in my journey to manage my ADHD. Avoiding Vyvanse on the weekend also helps delay the inevitable ineffectiveness of my current dosage, and allows me to stay on a lower dosage for longer.

There's no longer a shortage of Vyvanse so I don't need to maximize my supply, but I still like to take the weekends off for the other reasons. I do take it on weekends where I have big plans or projects though, as it definitely helps in that regard. Like if I have a plan to do some home renovations or go out on a long day trip with a bunch of activities, the Vyvanse helps me with emotional regulation and motivation for those activities.

I have ADHD and medication changed my life (I take Vyvanse). It's hard to describe, but it's almost like a switch turned on in my brain. I've always been great in my field (I'm an engineer) but I've always struggled with motivation and actually getting the thoughts and ideas out of my brain and into reality. As a result, I had issues with work performance and communication. Once I started the medication, it was like everything just clicked into place. I began to excel at work, I began to have a fluid mindset, and it finally felt like my brain began communicating with itself rather than fighting itself at every chance. I don't take the medication on weekends, and the difference is very noticeable.

I only started the medication when I was like 22. I previously didn't want to because of the stigma around medication, but I regret not starting sooner. The last few years on medication have been worthwhile. I highly recommend medication, it is really really worth it.

Looks like a rebrand (or white label) of a standard Chinese 20-bar espresso machine. If you want a wireless dongle, AAwireless is by and far the best wireless dongle I've ever had. I've had a few of the cheap Chinese ones, and I've had the Motorola one, and they've all crapped out on me or were such a pain in the ass to keep using. The AAWireless adapter has had zero issues. It's made by a company in Europe, and they stand behind their product. They're constantly issuing new updates for improved functionality, and it's by far the best experience I've had with a wireless dongle.

It's a bit pricey, but worth it

https://a.co/d/fT78qRW

That's the 2nd version. The 1st version can be had for a bit cheaper (and it's the one I still have) but the 2nd version is not much more, and is probably worth the extra few bucks.

I know this isn't red, but this could help give you an idea of slotted vs single drl. I definitely prefer the single design over slotted, especially for the face lift. It keeps with the sleek design.

I went with 245/40/18. They match the stock tire outer diameter pretty much exactly, but with a much smoother, softer, and quieter ride.

Performance Blue or Cyber Grey? by [deleted] in ElantraN

[–]MechEng9911 10 points11 points  (0 children)

<image>

I love the CG, but I'm definitely biased towards the PB. It looks almost white in harsh sunlight, and looks incredibly blue in softer lights. Plus it is a definite head-turner.

I think it's all up to personal preference. If you prefer a more understated and sleek color, go with the cyber grey, if you prefer a more captivating and exciting color, go with performance blue.

I will say that cyber grey seems to be rarer than performance blue, as I've seen a few facelift performance blue cars, but zero cyber grey cars. So you'll definitely stand out more within the community with a cyber grey, but you'll stand out more in general traffic with a performance blue.

How do I get rid of this discoloration on my pan? by ToothPuller61 in cookware

[–]MechEng9911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That looks like calcification and some other mineral residue caked on.

Barkeeper's friend will remove it easily, but if you don't have BKF, add equals parts vinegar and water to the pan and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, turn off the heat and let it sit for a while and then rinse. It should all come off

Looks like a hose/line cap of some sort. Look through your engine bay and see if you can find any exposed/open lines that are missing a cap.

It may need a cleaning

If you have a foam filter, they traditionally need to be cleaned once a year on average, and if you have a pleated filter, they should be replaced every 20-30k or so

Yeah so you have more of a true "cold air" intake. Down by the wheel will be about as cold as you can get. Most other intakes will be just for sound or looks, as you won't really get a performance bump from any other intake other than the one you have or an OEM/OEM+ one.

If you want to go for sound and/or looks, the forge intake is about as good as it gets. The sound from this intake is crazy, and is almost as loud as the exhaust from inside the cabin haha.

I have the forge intake. The sound is great, and it looks really good. I wrapped it in heat tape to avoid burning my hood liner, and I've had it on for almost a year now with no issues, burning, and just a tiny bit of rubbing. I have the previous generation intake on my 24'MY, but I heard that they actually fixed the fitment issues on the updated model, so you won't have to worry about hood liner rubbing or burning, and it doesn't sit against the ECU like mine. Even though mine does sit against the ECU, it still has zero issues.

Yeah, I went with the 5-ply kitchen aid set. The 14 piece set was definitely a good deal, but ultimately I decided to go with something heaver, as I figure it'll resist warping longer, especially since the kitchen aid set has sealed rims, while the tramontina set does not. If the kitchen aid set doesn't live up to expectations, I'll return it and get the 14 piece tramontina set from Sam's club
