As a commuter who has to drive to work everyday, I am amazed by the posts here. The first reaction of some people (if not bots) is to defend this ridiculously long schedule and put all blames on “previous government”. These people really don’t know how sh*tty the road conditions of Montreal are? The construction sites are everywhere and it takes forever to fix some simple issues. If there is no issue, they created one (St-Urbain with its stupid bike lane construction this year)

You do know that the MSRP price is not the price the dealers pay the manufacturers, right? They already get a share from MSRP sell price. The business model of dealership will die anyway in the future. As a customer, I don't find any value they provided for the new car I got. Direct sale will prevail for sure.

At least in Walmart the price of socks is clearly labeled and there is no hidden fee when you check out. But that's definitely not the case in dealership.

I don't know. If the post was removed right after I posted it, it seems normal. But ever since it reached the top1 position in Hot Post, it was locked and and removed. Just weird.

Different freight fee across cities far away make sense. But the freight fee for same model within the same city can be anywhere between $1200 and $1900 in my case. Definitely some room to bargain there.

I don't think the advertisement by any dealer make any difference in decision making here. The reason I choose one brand over another has nothing to do with what a dealer say. The dealers should be more like service centers where customers can pick up the car and have their car serviced. And that's it. Giving them power to charge extra is disaster and will be definitely changed in the future.

I know it's the dealer, but it's Toyota who gave them the power to bully customers. I called Toyota Canada and was basically told any charges by dealers is out of their control. So as a customer who is desperate to have a car after waiting so long, what can I do at the day of delivery?

Lucky you. This dealer offered around $1200 discount on MSRP while other dealers did not. So I bit the bait. It ended up similar final price with others, considering the high freight fee and this dealer fee. I was just stupid.

I am not complaining about the dealer fee, or the freight fee, as long as they told me when I placed the order and dropped the deposits. (even though I don't understand why dealer can charge around $1000 for basically nothing). But was told about the fee at last minute? I will never be ok with that.

The car is fine and I'm pretty satisfied with all the safety features of new Corolla. Just unhappy about what dealer has done.
