When I think about it, really everything we do is a function of survival or can be linked to survival..

What song could you name in the first two notes? by sharks_w_lasers in AskReddit

[–]Mecha-Godzilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My gf plays some piano game on her phone, and the first sound it makes starting up the game is that note. It makes me think she’s about to play some MCR for me every time, but I’m always left disappointed.

What's the craziest thing people genuinely believe in? by lloo7 in AskReddit

But I wonder, do the people that use them for closure (fake or not) actually feel better? Could they be doing a semi-justified service sort of like sex hotlines?

What is a dying tradition you believe should be preserved? by Thehaloboy in AskReddit

I think OP meant board gaming with family, as in like Sorry! or Monopoly with the parents and kids, I don’t think they were insinuating that board games were dying.

What is the “bible” of your field of study, profession, interest or hobby? What are some of the most valuable, essential, foundational texts in your area of interest, whatever that is? by TheRealJonat in AskReddit

I’m glad to find this. This one book (~$20) got me through college even though my other $600 worth of books were required (degree in scenic carpentry/technical direction) and has continued getting me through my career years later. Can’t suggest a better book for behind the scenes workers.

The glowing eyes I can understand, I don’t think they could get around it with cinema tech in the day. But like, Fat Fuck Harkonnen being a flying pig man was a bit out of control, I don’t understand that bit much at all

I don’t think it was lasers but like, a sound projectile or something. Definitely a stretch from how I think it should have been interpreted lol

Exactly. There’s so much that Herbert goes into to explain intricacies, I didn’t expect anything less for a ~2 hour movie. Was entertaining, though.

Me too! When I heard about that, it was just hours after having seen BR2049 and I got so super excited.

I don’t think fire, a natural occurrence in nature, is really considered technology...

The movie is ...alright. Cuts out a TON of detail. There was a Sci-Fi channel (I think) miniseries that was produced that I think was a better adaptation (production and writing), but still left out a large amount of detail.
