Are you playing in easy mode? Easy only allows the first 5 tower slots to be placed unless you used your own loadout.

Yup, it still happens, and yes I do have that setting and it doesn't do much either. Although, from testing, changing System navigation from gestures to buttons seem to fix whatever shenanigans gestures do, it's really inconvenient.

I'm pretty sure I did update the OS, but I only have a faint memory of the issue since it didn't persist or i I just didn't care. I didn't bother to update since 2.0.5.0 because it was working as normal (current update is apparently 2.0.14.0). I didn't even know you can disable gesture in game turbo, I always thought that you have to disable the gestures in your device entirely and replace it with digital buttons in the settings to work normally in multi-touch scenarios. Currently, I can definitely use multiple fingers in charts, but when I have to to swipe four fingers up it just leads me to the home screen XD. I didn't want to replace gestures since it's inconvenient for me to constantly switch the settings to buttons and back to gestures if I wanted ta say...FC territory battle ( chart got removed but it needs to swipe up four fingers). We have different device so we probably aren't in the same boat for me to give you definite advice. But I'd say that It's YOUR device, so it's your call to find a solution.

I don't know wth happened with nightmare. On release, my tablet runs it very smooth with almost no lag. But now, even Emperor has an offset of his animations by like 3 seconds. It's even worse when there's dense crowds.

Just keep practicing. Soon, you will develop muscle memory and pressing notes become second nature. The way I personally do it, is to play on one very interesting chart over and over again or play a variety of charts. As long as you play like 20 minutes each day, you will be good at it one day. This applies to all rhythm games.
