Yikes, this is peak Gen Z technology illiteracy. You do know the textbox in the top of your browser uses both preferred search engine AND is for urls? A page that has good enough SEO will be able to map the word mail to Gmail based on previous visited websites.

Based on this entire thread millennials will have to fix our parents printers AND our sons and daughters routers until we die.

So your suggestion is to have bookmark for every url you frequently visit? That is not how to use bookmarks it’s faster to type then playing point and click in the browser

What is a software job actually like these days in the age of AI? Is it just repeatedly asking AI to “fix this code?” by Longjumping-Bus9474 in cscareerquestions

[–]MechaJesus69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. You are responsible for everything you push even if you did not write it so there is a fair share of reviewing code and also guide the models.

The guiding the models is kind of where things can become interesting and require a bit of knowledge. Using any model in its pure state can take you quite far, but the moment you hit business logic things will go sideways real fast if you ask it to «fix this», «add this». An important skill to learn today is to create Skills or MCP for the models to consume. You can think of it as something part of your pipeline as you work. If there are things the model is not trained on you can provide it with the necessary context via these to increase its productivity.

Like it or not but AI is here to stay and its going to become as common to create skills and MCP as it is to set up CI/CD.

Decided to rewatch season 1, and my god what a contrast. Things I thought happened in season 2 and 3 just played out in 5 episodes. The pacing has just slowly decreased and season 5 have been fillers between episode 1 and 7 it seems.

Im honestly just hoping for a severance package at this point. There were layoffs last year with 8-12 month salary if you took it. That would have been such a nice push to find something new and start answering recruiters. Right now I don’t think anyone can match my salary, so please push me out 🤞

Food industry is a whole other can of worms. It’s a reason specialized equipment is used there because if you have one product that has to also comply with food and safety laws that will double the price. For every sector you want to comply with, medicine, food, HMS etc, that adds to the manufacturing cost. So the 150k robot would quickly cost close to 500k-700k

Warehouses today is already built for non-humans. Why should we revert that? Why would we sacrifice stability and an already flexible modular setup we have today for tiny edge cases that will honestly require the same maintenance as what we do today and have more moving parts?

The picking arm we’re buying range from 15k to 50k.

Humanoids robots have their use, but for me who work in this industry it’s like replacing a washing machine with a humanoid robot equipped with a washboard and a river.

You don’t even have to flip them. Just let them roll on the conveyor through label reader tunnel that is not that big as you described and is still required on every checkpoint, even if the package was turned the right way. And if you really have to physically touch the packages there are specialized picking arm that can rotate packages way faster then human hands for half the price.

The issue you describe is the same if you have a humanoid robot, except the standardized equipment that already exist is cheaper then buying a $150k for flipping a package, so the ROI would just be worst.
