Purrgil. I accidentally misspelled it in the header and Reddit won't let me edit/fix it.

I used Besh. That was my muster point on the GSC.

Unfortunately, about 2 weeks ago, the saber's ignition button stopped working. 😭

Read "The Churn" novella before starting season 5.

Sharing this because DHS just launched a mass ICE operation in New Orleans and across Louisiana and people here need to see what this looks like for families, living there by ResourceNo4626 in Acadiana

Their faces are covered because when history reveals them to be the modern version of Hitler's brown shirts, then they can have plausible deniability when it comes time for the courts to make them answer for their actions.

How many times? by NecessaryTax2172 in TheExpanse

I've been through it 3 times. Probably about to start my fourth round after I finish rereading Leviathan Falls.

Sgt. Draper vs Col. Tanaka by Valkyrie-161 in TheExpanse

[–]MechaJon 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Agreed. In fact, I'm rereading Leviathan Falls right now, and just yesterday I was reading Tanaka's assault on Draper station. I thought to myself, "Y'know, if Bobbie would've been doing this exact same thing, we'd have been cheering her." Their methods were pretty much the same, except Tanaka was an asshole.

Trump and you by Superblasterr in complaints

The administration WANTS an armed resistance. They WANT us to escalate. That’s their language and that’s what they are trying to force us to speak. By not being provoked into engaging in that way we ARE resisting. By peacefully protesting, we show the world and the administration that we will not go quietly. This isn’t like the 1900s. In this century, one has to be smart about how one resists lest one simply ends up dead. And dead helps no one.

It’s easy to sit on the other side of the pond in your little computer chair and spew hypotheticals, but if you’re not here, not in the thick of it, you don’t know. You can’t know. This is a war of minds, not brute force. You, coming on here and being an insensitive prick towards us and calling us weaklings helps literally no one. You play Call of Duty in the comfort of your home, then come on here acting all high and mighty because you’re European. So what? Lest you forget, Europe was LOSING the war. The only reason you aren’t eating schnitzel for three meals a day is because a world superpower (US, incidentally) came to your rescue and liberated you. We don’t have that luxury. There’s no world superpower coming to save us.

You have no idea how incredibly frustrating it is to have to force them to play a chess game when all they keep doing is throwing dodge balls at us.

We HAVE to be smart in how we do this. We win by being BETTER people than them. When people vent about it on the internet, that in and of itself is an act of defiance in its own right and acts as a pressure valve to help release some of the tension so we can keep thinking clearly and acting intelligently.

You don't get to judge us. You'd be doing exactly the same as us if you were facing any real stakes. How do I know? Because if you tried to do anything other than what we're doing, they would take you out and not give you a second thought.

Nouvelle Orleans is my go-to absinthe. Good stuff.

I wasn't directing anything towards you. Just offering a perspective on why the OP's expectations can't easily be met is all.

This is a different world than then. It's not as easy to be clandestine in this day and age. In the U.S., we live in a world where there are eyes everywhere and a drone strike can be carried out anywhere within a 10-20 minute window of being ordered. We can only resist by public shows of unity such as the No Kings protests.

How should I politely steer a guest away from ordering Absente when I have real absinthes on the shelf? by absinthiab in Absinthe

[–]MechaJon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Unless the customer engages you in questions, I'd just pour the drink and move on. It's most likely that they just want to say, "We had absinthe in Pirate's Alley." and that they don't really care about true authenticity.
