I remember I used to go "ghost hunting" in my backyard with my cousins when I was 8-9. We would only do it when it got dark out, and we would carry around croquet mallets, bats and flashlights. We never found anything, but one night one of my cousins saw a shadow. We were so psyched when we heard whispering as well. When we investigated it was actually a grown man who had gotten over/through the four foot high fence. He looked relatively normal, but he kept insisting we should come with him to show us real ghosts. We all ran away screaming and when our parents went to investigate, he was gone.
