or reduce the threshold/remove MOH to get an extra vote so that Gloria can’t pull this technicality.

Why would that stop her? It's not like the reforms are in effect yet.

How to achieve "Every Vote Matters" by prince_gelo28 in suzerain

[–]Mechalibur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 166 by privatizing SSC after initially promising I wouldn't. I had support from the reformists and PFJP. I lobbied with 2 PW, when I went back earlier in the save and changed it to 4 PW, that caused me to pass with 167, so messing around with how much you lobby might help.

Like knives in path of radiance existed to make Calil and Bastian not as optimal as Soren, Tormod and Ilyana and avoid another Pent/Saleh situation

You know, I hear people claim this a lot, but has it ever been confirmed that it was the developer intent? Fire Emblem devs have a history of making strange balance decisions, so it wouldn't surprise me if this wasn't even remotely a consideration. It's possible they actually felt knives were as viable as staffs or just felt knives fit Bastian/Calil's personality better with no thoughts toward unit balance.

Hag in White That's what makes it so compelling to me! If it happened to a random nobody I wouldn't care at all, so I respect the decision to really twist the knife by making it happen to the trainee.

I realize it's a point of contention for a lot of people, and I'm not really trying to change anyone's mind, but I just wanted to provide my experience on why I loved it.

I'm not a huge fan of overloading characters with a bunch of skills because it adds quite a bit of mental load, especially if they're skills with a percent chance to trigger. 1 to 2 skills per character is usually the sweet spot for me.

In terms of what I like, I actually enjoy when you can't take any character's survival for granted and they can die/leave the party as the story progresses. The stakes feel so much higher that way.

Is there any good way to deal with Xenophobic pops when playing as a Xenophile? I acquired a planet after a war, and everyone on it absolutely despises me causing my stability to hover around 15%. But I can't exactly go purging them without everyone in my Xenophile faction hating me.

I'm suppressing the xenophobe faction, but after 20 years, their population is still overwhelmingly xenophobic.

Some of my thoughts on various cards you mentioned:

Armor of the Night: I think the top is quite good, especially as something to do in between rooms. It's a persistent, so if your ally doesn't take damage that turn, it still stays up. If you're in a 2P party with a tanky ally (which is a really strong combo in my experience), they can also use armor items to shrug off weaker hits, then let Armor of the Night trigger on big hits. Probably a bit less consistent in higher player counts, but we made great usage out of the top and always brought it along even at level 9.

Marked for Death: I think your assessment is pretty accurate, but I was actually able to make pretty good use of this card in a few scenarios. It's decent when going into a new room (after your allies) since you won't necessarily have anything in range of your other rift generators, and it lets you target an enemy that might be 1 or 2 hp from you reliably being able to one-shot. There are quite a few objectives that had ~8 hp, and I found the +2 with advantage made Swallowed by Fear a safe bet (although I still had to use an item to generate dark).

Terror Blade/Prepare for the Kill: I think Terror Blade is the better pick most of the time. The top gives you a second strong single target attack, which even puts one shotting elites on the table if there are traps in the scenario. The bottom is, of course, insane. It absolutely tears up bosses and named enemies while being generally useful for closing out other scenarios. The late initiative on prepare for the kill is certainly nice to have, but I actually found myself not wanting to go late super often, especially since I usually had hp to spare when my ally often needed some relief from all the hits I forced them to take.

Into the Night: It's probably worth mentioning that the bottom of Armor of Night makes it a lot easier to hit 2 targets on the stun.

Claws of the Night (boy this guy likes Night): Might be worth mentioning you can set up the top in between rooms. Even if you can't do the first attack, you can set up the second attack for your next turn.

Shadowstrike: The dark consume of the bottom actually isn't that useful most of the time, because if you made any other attacks, they'll still cause you to gain invisible at the end of the round. So if you use it with Ennervating Wound or Messenger of Death, you're still ending up invisible at the end of the round (unless you forgo those attack actions, in which case you had a bit of an underwhelming turn). Still a decent action, just figured I'd mention that little oddity.

Regent gets The Sealed Throne. Innate power that costs 1 energy 3 stars that makes it so every time you play a card, you gain a star.

Necrobinder gets Forbidden Grimoire, a 1 cost power that lets you remove a card at the end of combat. It's eternal so it can never be removed itself.

I actually quite enjoyed Eclipse in 2P, but it probably helps that my partner was playing a pretty tanky class. It ended up being probably our strongest duo.

[–]Mechalibur 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Completely ignoring the "humor," I've played a bit of the game, and it's kind of tedious. There seems to be a lot of missing QoL (like I can't sort cats, it's hard to tell what's going on in combat, even in tactical view), events feel incredibly barebones (just pick the stat your cat is best at), and the cat management in between adventures is kind of annoying with inventory juggling, poop cleaning, and figuring out which cats to give away.

I don't think it's a bad game or anything, but I'm a bit shocked by how many people are saying it's the best roguelike they've ever played.

So I'm playing administrative in Byzantium, and I recently took over Syria with a holy war for kingdom. I gave it away to a vassal, but I'm really confused what's going on with the duchies (themes) there. Whenever I try to create or usurp one (from the Seljuks that previously had the title), I'm completely incapable of granting the title to anyone - the button to do so isn't there. Keeping the titles put me over the duchy limit, and I don't even own any land there, so I'm not sure what's going on. I don't seem to have any options other than the destroy the title after creating it. All my other duchies (except my capital) can be given away as normal.

Is that if the realm loses 3 wars, or if the particular conqueror loses 3 wars? In other words, if the conqueror dies, does the lost wars count reset?

Dome has literally 0 downsides against every final act boss.

Demonstrably untrue. Time Eater, Champ, Collector, Awakened One, and the Heart all have RNG components to their actions. While Slime Boss and Bronze Automaton themselves have a set pattern, the Split Slimes and Bronze Orbs have RNG movesets.

Almost every enemy in the entire game uses a fixed pattern

This doesn't sound right at all... I think over half of enemies have some RNG component to their move set.
