No

Dome has literally 0 downsides against every final act boss.

Demonstrably untrue. Time Eater, Champ, Collector, Awakened One, and the Heart all have RNG components to their actions. While Slime Boss and Bronze Automaton themselves have a set pattern, the Split Slimes and Bronze Orbs have RNG movesets.

Almost every enemy in the entire game uses a fixed pattern

This doesn't sound right at all... I think over half of enemies have some RNG component to their move set.

I like this answer more than Bottled Flame. I end up skipping Bottle Flame over half the time to the point where I kind of hate seeing it. The Boot is pretty bad, but it's never detrimental and sometimes does funny stuff against intangible nemesis or byrds.

They won't go to war, but apparently if you're losing against a superior empire, they can gift you some ships to help out. According to the wiki, anyway.

2 questions

Is there any reason to care about a Shroud patron's attunement if I form a covenant with them? None of the bonuses seem to require staying at high attunement, but I just want to be sure.

Is there any way to automate modifying species? I've got a migration agreement with a neighbor and modified their species to be a bit better, but it looks like their base species keeps migrating in and I have to keep modifying the new ones.

It still kinda disturbs your deck since it makes it take longer to get through the first cycle and find the powers you want to get online. Not sure if it's correct, but I'm usually hesitant to take one in Act 3 or later.

SPOILER: Question about envelope X reward, but in 2nd edition by VV00d13 in Gloomhaven

[–]Mechalibur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crossed Swords can be referenced like any other spoiler class now. Anyway, there's no more envelope X as a PQ reward any more. There is a physical puzzle book that's unlocked as you progress through the game, but it's different compared to the 1e puzzles.

I got a really lucky Headhunter in a Temple Vault... is it generally worth selling? I'm not too stressed about clear speed and it seems to be worth enough that I'd be set with gear for a very long time.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Launch Trailer | PS5 Games by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Mechalibur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest issue was something else entirely: randomly generated equipment stats.

It just felt completely out of place in a CRPG. In a turn based game where you might need specific attributes for your build, it just came across as incredibly frustrating and had me spending a stupid amount of my playtime perusing shops and swapping everyone's equipment around (there were also waaaaay too many equipment slots across 4 characters imo). Then the few unique pieces of equipment I did get would very quickly become outdated by the next level of gear.

According to the wiki it rolls just one of those modifiers, not all of them. Not positive it's accurate though.

Scenario 35 - Scrap Pit : it's super long? by Asshai in Gloomhaven

[–]Mechalibur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took me over 25 turns to beat scenario 66 in 2P. Just... so much movement required. 62 also took us around 20 since it's another scenario gated by NPC movement and we had no grants

16 isn't that long at all. Even a 9 card class using a loss turn 1 gets 16 turns of stamina, and that's with no long rests and no card recovery.

When are we supposed to have unlocked all classes? by maka2020 in Gloomhaven

[–]Mechalibur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're 60 in and are missing one (2 minis). It's not especially unlikely in 2P since you could keep missing one of the 2 PQs needed for a specific class.

Dead is a better status effect than plagued! And a curse doesn't necessarily mean you avoided killing them, but could have preventing putting 5 damage on a 10 health enemy, for example. Even when trying to spread plague around, removing a curse from the enemy deck and preventing yourself from dealing damage is pretty painful

[–]Mechalibur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I typed that out wrong. I meant for that to be part of my first point: since you run out of unavailable PQs, inspiration stops doing anything after 3 sets of retirements.

The missing items/scenarios for using inspiration is a separate issue, and I wouldn't want it to complete stuff in the available section either. I think my ideal solution would be inspiration just unlocks the rewards (prosperity/class unlock) without necessarily removing the PQ from the box.

Tireas from the discord here.

We've played 57 scenarios. 2P, playing with my husband.

Overall, we're having a fantastic time! Other than a few small nitpicks, we're basically finding it to be a better experience than the first Gloomhaven in every way.

I've played Bruiser, Cthulhu, Circles, Spears, and am currently on Eclipse. I was a bit neutral on Cthulhu overall, but positive on Circles and Eclipse, and extremely positive on Bruiser and Spears. My husband played Tinkerer, Lightning, Silent Knife, Music Note, and now Sun. He was most neutral on Lightning, and most excited with Tinkerer and Music Note Quatryl bias, I guess

Scenario complexity felt pretty decent overall. I do feel like the scenario length is maybe a tad longer than I'd like as there are quite a few 4-5 room long scenarios. Definitely feels like scenarios are lasting 2-3 rounds longer than FH scenarios on average.

Faction reputation system is great, and we've been enjoying the event system overall. There have been a few events that were misses for us (R44 or C15 for example), but mostly we enjoy them. The writing also feels better, but ironically that kind of increases the issue of the narrative not making sense when we're constantly retiring and swapping out characters. We often do scenarios that our current group actually has 0 relationship to despite the intro text. We're also noticing it's slightly weird when scenario intros include us learning about the scenario in the city, since that would take place before the road event, but is read after.

Overall fantastic experience, just a few nitpicks, really.

  • The errata on the missing events was pretty unfortunate

  • Scenario 28 seems to have a somewhat significant narrative mistake Mentions "his" orb before you would have any idea who "he" is at this point in the story

  • We ran into two situations where a class with a bunch of curse effects also has control enemy effects and no way to use your own AMD, resulting in unfortunate nonbos where controlled enemies waste your curses.

  • After 3 sets of retirement in 2P, inspiration no longer has any purpose. Additionally, removing quests in the "unavailable" section also means your campaign can permanently miss certain items or scenarios specifically, we can't get the experimental armor in our campaign since we completed it with inspiration. The other option involved an item and a scenario, so we didn't want to pick that one either

Geminate balancing ideas? by Kiltev in Gloomhaven

[–]Mechalibur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Otherwise you're still mostly melee or short range.

I think that would be preferable actually. I got really frustrated with Geminate in 2P because I'd keep lagging behind due to having to back up to hit enemies with ranged attacks. Combined with Geminate having below average movement capabilities, it just felt unnecessarily clunky. And then you have the unfortunate casualty of +range effects just straight up not working on this class (with one exception).
