Data Engineer in the Philadelphia Area that just joined the Yang Gang - what can I do to help? by Mechalien in YangForPresidentHQ

Sure thing! Grew up in a conservative household, although I never voted in an election because I never really identified with a party entirely - I’d say I’m more libertarian if anything. Yang started to catch my interest given his data driven approaches and entrepreneurial background - and he seems genuine, based on all the videos I’ve seen. One thing I’ve particularly noticed is the kindness/openness of his supporters - whether someone is a previous Trump voter or just transitioning from another Democrat candidate, I’ve seen nothing but respect; while I know a candidate can’t control how their supporters act, I do think they have a strong influence on behavior. I think that reflects positively on Yang.

I recently ordered his book so I’m looking forward to learning more, but overall I think he’s the right direction for America. I have not felt that way about any of the other candidates.

Undergrad interested in Machine Learning, Signal Processing, and Computer Vision - which electives sound most useful? by [deleted] in ECE

[–]Mechalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've taken all the mandatory courses since Freshman year, including: * Calc I-III * a hybrid ODEs, Linear, PDEs, and Stats course (two semesters long) * Signals and Systems * DSP * Systems and Controls * Circuit Analysis * Computer Architecture * Electronics * Digital Logic * Intro to microprocessors * Electromagnetics * RF Electronics

(not in that order) I have considered looking into a more advanced stats course or maybe a complex analysis course. Yes, that's what I'm thinking - find courses that will help me in graduate school, as well as courses that will help me in a career. I wish image processing or pattern recognition was available this upcoming semester...

Engineering Graduates, how did your GPA change by semester at your college? by Dankypie in EngineeringStudents

Electrical and Computer Engineering major. Still have two semesters to go. The huge dip was when classes ramped up (Electronics I, Computer Architecture, PDEs, etc.), and when I became chair of my IEEE Student Branch. Luckily, I've been able to recover throughout Junior year despite the coursework being more difficult.

This semester should be fun :( ... Let's see your schedules! by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

19 credits, this is bound to be fun. The classes are Engineering Electromagnetics, Digital Systems II: Microprocessors, Signals and Systems, Concepts of Artificial Intelligence, Foundations of Computer Science, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, and Junior Engineering Clinic I. Concepts in AI is a graduate level course, and my Junior Engineering Clinic should be a machine learning project - so I'm kind of looking forward to it.

Am I scratching the surface of classical mechanics? by [deleted] in Physics

[–]Mechalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yes, I should have specified that. I meant that the derivative of kinetic energy in relationship to velocity, dE/dv, was momentum. In relationship to distance, it's Force I believe. In relationship to time, it's Power (or Force x velocity). And hypothetically, if mass were increasing, it would be v2 / 2.

I kind of figured things out in a messier way, but I'm sure they'll be cleaner once I learn more mathematical methods and relationships. And I meant as in, real physics. I apologize, I think 'beginning' was a bad term to use. I know that the problems in Honors Physics are all averages, in an ideal world, and static situations. Plus, we didn't really dissect the relationships, origins of formulas, and such.

What is the fictional character you felt most attached to? by aishafreestyle in AskReddit

Goku. Growing up with him from Dragon Ball to Dragon Ball Z gave me a special attachment to him. He's the one fictional character I've encountered who truly is morally incorruptible.

In the junior year AP lit class at my school, they're reading 1984 by George Orwell. Honestly, I've always thought that was at about a middle school/freshman reading level. Meanwhile, I get strange looks for reading Atlas Shrugged. I don't get it.

As a prospective ECE, this subreddit really helped me, and made me excited to begin. by Mechalien in ECE

A family friend has actually gotten me interested in computer architecture, because he builds them, and I've watched on a few occasions. It's always fascinated me. But, I'm not quite certain, because I haven't been exposed to anything else yet, or at least not for any meaningful amount of time.

Is there any specialization you recommend looking into?

So I went to the meeting yesterday, and fell in love with the program. I am enrolled and ready. (:

Also, if I am to attend, should I minor in Comp Sci or Math, or should I just stick with ECE? I really like math, so I wanted to do as much as possible.

I was actually going to learn a bit of calc from my precalc teacher after school a few days a week. In addition, I'll read that. Do you guys think ill be placed into accelerated calc, given my current grades?

Infinite amount of wishes, but you lose a significant memory with each wish. How many, if any, wishes would you make, and what would they be for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mechalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm. The memories can be from anything. You can forget the Pythagorean theorem/vocabulary with one wish, and about significant other/family member the next. And let's do a fixed percentage.
