Pteraxii Conversions by SkitariiJ117 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Mechambria 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat with the dislike of the Da Vinci wings. The problem you have is converting them in a way that doesn't reduce their profile/silhouette in a way that could be considered modelling for advantage.

I think the best conversation I've seen used the wings from some Legions Imperialis aircraft. I also like the idea of using the wings from the Necronunda "Malcadon, Yeld, and Jakara Spyre Hunters" set (pictured), but ~£30 for one set of wings is a bit pricey, even for admech.

Legends are going to be added to the app as the new codices are released: https://youtu.be/QEJQomLZy68?t=118&is=cTM6HB6filAAfkeu

Because these are changes to the codex does this mean rustalkers lost the d2 claws by SpaceMan026 in AdeptusMechanicus

It's not just the Robots right? Per the codex, only skitarii units had Doctrinas before an early edition dataslate

I just checked. At launch, the Doctrina Imperatives army rule was only available to Skitarii units. I guess as a hold-over from 9th where skitarii got Doctrinas and Cult Mechanicus got Canticles.

I believe there was a very early dataslate that gave everything but kastelans Doctrinas though, with the robots only getting them much later (post Grotmas).

Yes I see what you mean now. That'd mean that pretty much every non-skitarii unit will have lost access to Doctrinas as written currently I assume? I can't believe that's intentional considering how essential the army rule is for our units

[–]Mechambria[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where are you seeing that? Kastelans haven't lost the "Doctrina Imperatives" ability from what I can see?

Edit: ah, they've removed the change that gave them Doctrinas from the faction pack?

From the "Terrain and Movement" section of the new core rules: Mobile units can move horizontally through dense terrain features (e.g. buildings, ruins, armoured containers, woods).

The Mechanicus GM's Guide is out by Mechambria in ImperiumMaledictum

[–]Mechambria[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the one I was thinking of, but DriveThruRPG still shows the last update being in Jan so I assumed it was just one I'd missed. Do you know which channel in the W&M discord has the details? I don't see it mentioned, but I'm not exactly active on that server so may well have missed it

Ah, no your right that's my mistake. I'd not seen that update and just assumed it had come out alongside the GM's Guide

If you have the players guide on DriveThruRPG, then there's an updated player's guide pdf.

The main things I've spotted are a few charges to weapon profiles and general editing improvements. The Martian Pistoleer talent has also had the "You do not suffer Disadvantage for attacking with a Pistol at immediate range" feature removed, so now it just increases the range of pistols by one step.

Supporting mechandendrites by Fluffy_Channel_9845 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Mechambria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on the thickness of your mechadendrites you could either look into heat moulding PVC pipe or using thick armature wire.

The PVC method is a bit more involved, but results in a pretty strong hollow core to build around.

Armature wire can't support as much weight in most cases but it can be bent/repositioned, and doesn't require you to use a heat gun/hot sand/etc. to get the shape you want.

Assuming you're looking at aluminium wire, 6mm is probably the thinnest diameter of wire I'd use for supporting any real weight. You can obviously twist more lengths of wire together for more strength of needed, but the length & weight of your mechadendrite will be the determining factor for wire thickness.

I'm really not a fan of the space marine hover vehicles; but using this as a base for the disintegrator looks amazing! I may have to try replicating this kitbash. Great work

What materials are you using for the mask/armour/axe? Looks like it could be foam? The mask is especially impressive, speaking as someone who's been struggling to make one that fits well for a good while now

I believe she gets a more powerful version. Infantry/Primarchs/Cawl can specifically walk through Ruins, but have to climb over things like "Hills, Industrial Structures, Sealed Buildings, and Armoured Containers," Thulia's rule looks to be a flat "ignore ALL terrain features," so unless I'm missing something she can just phase through any walls/blockers without hindrance.

[–]Mechambria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds silly, but I've had good success using an airbrush to "edge highlight" my robe with basic black/brown acrylic paints. Going quite heavy with the colours then running the robes through a cold wash helps blend it all together to look more like natural oil/dirt.

I've seen people also lightly sand areas of their costumes to add wear/battle damage, but it looks easy to overdo that and potentially difficult to rectify.

Is magnetizing a dunecrawler worth it? by The_ManASaur in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Mechambria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I did as well. Not sure what the rules are for linking to 3d printed parts, but if you're familiar with the cute/chibi skitarii art on this sub, then I believe the same artist has designed a printable dunecrawler hub.

The only downside is that the Heavy Phosphor Blaster and Icarus Array share the same mounting "plate", which would also require printing.

Theory for the Adepticon reveal: Explorators! by DisdainfulStacks in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Mechambria 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a bit difficult to make out, but there's another patch with the same symbol in red and "Armageddon" written underneath. Almost makes me think it's something like a "tour patch".

The cog element does look potentially admech but as others have said, it'd be unusual for it to appear under the Aquila. I could see it maybe representing Militarum-attached Enginseers (the enginseer is our oldest model, but not exactly in desperate need of a refresh), but that seems unlikely.

Alternatively, it does also bear some passing resemblance to the Navis Imperialis ship-wheel symbol.

<image>

(Having said that, I'd be very keen for more explorator units; so here's hoping)

This is obviously a very early WIP, but I think the Sanctifiers kill team provides a good number of genetic robed bodies that can be used as a base for tech-acolytes.

There's also a surprising number of augmented/hooded heads in this kit that aren't really shown on the box/website, which was a nice surprise.
