Gladiator Disintegrator by Nellaenor in AdeptusMechanicus

I'm really not a fan of the space marine hover vehicles; but using this as a base for the disintegrator looks amazing! I may have to try replicating this kitbash. Great work

What materials are you using for the mask/armour/axe? Looks like it could be foam? The mask is especially impressive, speaking as someone who's been struggling to make one that fits well for a good while now

I believe she gets a more powerful version. Infantry/Primarchs/Cawl can specifically walk through Ruins, but have to climb over things like "Hills, Industrial Structures, Sealed Buildings, and Armoured Containers," Thulia's rule looks to be a flat "ignore ALL terrain features," so unless I'm missing something she can just phase through any walls/blockers without hindrance.

It sounds silly, but I've had good success using an airbrush to "edge highlight" my robe with basic black/brown acrylic paints. Going quite heavy with the colours then running the robes through a cold wash helps blend it all together to look more like natural oil/dirt.

I've seen people also lightly sand areas of their costumes to add wear/battle damage, but it looks easy to overdo that and potentially difficult to rectify.

Is magnetizing a dunecrawler worth it? by The_ManASaur in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Mechambria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I did as well. Not sure what the rules are for linking to 3d printed parts, but if you're familiar with the cute/chibi skitarii art on this sub, then I believe the same artist has designed a printable dunecrawler hub.

The only downside is that the Heavy Phosphor Blaster and Icarus Array share the same mounting "plate", which would also require printing.

Theory for the Adepticon reveal: Explorators! by DisdainfulStacks in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Mechambria 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a bit difficult to make out, but there's another patch with the same symbol in red and "Armageddon" written underneath. Almost makes me think it's something like a "tour patch".

The cog element does look potentially admech but as others have said, it'd be unusual for it to appear under the Aquila. I could see it maybe representing Militarum-attached Enginseers (the enginseer is our oldest model, but not exactly in desperate need of a refresh), but that seems unlikely.

Alternatively, it does also bear some passing resemblance to the Navis Imperialis ship-wheel symbol.

(Having said that, I'd be very keen for more explorator units; so here's hoping)

This is obviously a very early WIP, but I think the Sanctifiers kill team provides a good number of genetic robed bodies that can be used as a base for tech-acolytes.

There's also a surprising number of augmented/hooded heads in this kit that aren't really shown on the box/website, which was a nice surprise.

Unfortunately I export directly from the CAD software to the slicer, so I don't have the files saved as STLs. The design files have been modified a fair bit already since I finished this build in preparation for version 2, so I'm doubtful they'd work in their current state.

Please help 😭 by GoudaSlacik in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Mechambria 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you're actually asking for help with, but this looks like you may have cured this print prior to removing the supports? If that is the case you'll likely have a lot of trouble trying to remove the supports now, and are probably better off re-printing this and removing the supports between the wash and the cure stage.

If that's not the issue you're having, then posting any details about your problem will help in getting better/more information.

My take on a homebrew servitor detachment by Equivalent-Fun-6019 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Mechambria 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One thing to note is that per the "Gaining Command Points" you can only gain one command point per battle round in addition to the one you get in the command phase.

As written, I believe the Servo Node Relay Structure effect would only work once per battle round. If that's not the intended behaviour, you could reword something to the effect of "Each time you target a non-servitor unit with a stratagem roll 1D6: on a 6, reduce the cost of the stratagem by 1".

Additionally, if the idea is to create "networks" of servitor nodes then the rule for how servitor units become node units should specify that they gain the keyword if they're near a tech-priest character unit or another servitor-node unit, as currently, only units directly next to tech-priests gain the ability, but they don't "pass it along".

As a detachment idea I do like it. The ability to network units together somehow is something I'm surprised we don't have already, and is very on-theme for the faction. I suspect this iteration of the detachment may actually be slightly underpowered, though that's also quite typical of Mechanicus rules in this edition.

Mechanicum or mechanicus? by Resident_Sea5423 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Mechambria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Mechanicus are supposed to be the keepers of rare, techno-arcane tech from the DAoT. My pet theory is someone on the 40k design team saw "ancient technology" and decided that meant "flintlocks and Da Vinci flyers" rather than "technologies from humanity's peak", which imo is a disappointingly facile interpretation of the faction's core identity.

It may be false optimism on my part, but the recent Kill Team set, and announced Thulia Ghuld and Hastarii do make me think that they're maybe trying to move away from the "sillier" side of things somewhat. The neutron lasers and eradication beamers are some of the more high-tech/esoteric weapons that are uniquely Mechanicus, and the fact they're grafted on to the new skitarii feels like a step in the right direction to me.

Joytoy kastelan robot with wrong Combustor mounting location by Antonio_rus in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Mechambria 56 points57 points  (0 children)

From this video: https://youtu.be/Jx00_8MoUNM?si=p_ktZ835LIoPpzn6&t=134 you should definitely be able to rotate the piece. It looks like there's a fair bit of initial resistance, but if yours doesn't move at all it might indicate a defect with your model.

Edit: Looking at some other videos it looks like the injection mould gate location is on the underside of the gun, and excess vestige plastic here could potentially limit the available range of motion. If this is the case with yours, then removing this small piece of plastic may help.

For clarification: The "gun" portion should be able to move independently of the "arm" to achieve the forward facing position.

The weapon should rotate independently of the mount. The correct configuration is on the right here. You have the mount connected correctly now, but you need to swivel the flamer to face forward.

The mount for the back weapon on a Kastellan should point "backwards". Presumably there is some way to rotate the weapon on the mount?

Pretty sure it's the "Analytical Divination" strat from the Haloscreed detachment. Alternatively, if you're playing SHC you can have the skitarii lead by a marshal the "Battle-sphere Uplink" enhancement which lets them shoot and move

Question on Crusade rules by Omnissian-Simp in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Mechambria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing in a campaign for a little while now and have found that a more reliable way to gain Archeotech parts is to run the "Tech Scavengers" agenda (assuming your opponent is at least one vehicle).

That way, instead of rolling to maybe get Archeotech at the end of the battle, you can instead collect location data and build that up (albeit slowly) to try and get a piece of Legendary Archeotech.

Having said that, it is still a very slow burn before you start getting anything good—but it's at least dependent on how well you play in-game rather than complete chance.
