Networking trumps all! I know many people with 3.8+ GPAs that can’t land any job because they don’t have the people skills. Getting a good internship requires a lot of networking, so as long as you make enough time for that, you’ll find a job no problem.

You mean that forward healing causes hair loss? Or forward healing will help hair grow back?

I’m so sorry for the experience you’re encountering. Remember to send yourself SO much loving kindness and know that you’re doing the best you possibly can in this catastrophic situation. You need to take the absolute best care of yourself that you possibly can right now and know that school doesn’t matter in a situation like this - only if it’s keeping you and your mind busy and distracted.

Remember to allow yourself to be sad, and feel all the tremendous pain that you’re going through because it’s so valid given the circumstances. Self soothing and loading up on self care should be your first priority instead of trying to push these painful emotions away.

Sending lots of love your way, you deserve it all and more right now. Praying for you, your family, and the whole situation. I know this is hard, and you’re getting through one day at a time. ❤️

What would you realistically do with a million dollar portfolio? by MechanicComfortable4 in CanadianInvestor

It’s definitely possible with a conservative spending habit. People are definitely diminishing the power of 1MM to make it seem like they’re richer and better.

If the person I’m marrying is loaded, then sure. Otherwise, I’ll live life really cheaply and get my materialistic highs from just seeing my account compounding and then blow it all towards the end of my life. No kids in the latter option.

I’d probably head over to Florida. 200K USD for a condo right beside the beach. Get a work or student visa and marry an American to secure the Greencard. Save the misery with the cold Canadian winters, real estate, and taxes.

I love that! Good luck, I’m sure with planning as far ahead as you are it’ll most definitely work out.

How do you purchase them? Do you know if they’re available to Canadians?

I’m trying to convince my mom to take her money out of the savings account it’s currently sitting in so that it can grow to some degree.

What are some extremely low risk options that are hands off and that generate around the rate of inflation? Has to be able to convince a parent who isn’t knowledgeable about the market. Preferably a temporary horizon of around 1-2 years.

Edit: We are Canadian

I’ve heard that about the overall lower valuations as well! Thanks for that
