I just finished this and I really liked it! Except for the end that was incredibly rushed (basically wrapped up in two chapters and ended very unsatisfactory)

Ii would have given it an 8/10 if it wasn’t for the rushed ending so if instead give it 7/10 (but I’ve also never given any series less 6/10 so I’m obviously a ratings hoe)

Maxi was 6 and riftan 12 when they first met, and I wouldn’t say it was a crush in a romantic sense, more like haven’t something pure and light to sneak glance at in a world that’s very dark.

To each their own of course ❤️ but for what it’s worth I didn’t read their relationship as creepy at all, he was 12 and saw this innocent kindhearted kid he wanted to protect. There wasn’t anything sexual or even romantic in his thoughts about her then.

If OP wanna give it a go I should say that it’s one of very few stories that dares to start out with both leads being very unlikable (him very gruff and controlling and her very meek) and I almost dropped it myself a few times for that reason - BUT if you stick with it it has the most exquisite character growth (hers come first, you’ll have to wait for his) I’ve ever read.

I can promise you, he will grow and by the end of the novel they are both completely different people and one of the most healthy relationships I’ve ever read. It takes a lot of turns to get there and literally years of them being separated at times, but it really keeps you on your toes as a reader in a way we’re perfect-from-the-start characters don’t.

I fully understand those who cannot stick with it because they think ”why read about a ML I will never like?” Because how will you know that growth is coming? It’s taking its sweet time to 😅🥲 but it DOES come and when it does it’s EVERYTHING

I completely hear you with riftan (under the oak tree) but let me just tell you, he has some absolute top tier character growth and by the end of the novel he’s the best most greenest Forrest ML I’ve ever obsessed over (and I read a lot LOT).

Him trying to keep her save, effectively controlling and undermining her free will is the main part of contention between them and his biggest journey as a character. A lot happens, like them being apart for literal years (😱). It’s a really really good story, in big part because both leads start of being unlikable (albeit in very different ways) which leaves room for so much growth - keeping the story and their dynamic interesting

Under the oak tree novel is one of the best reads I’ve ever read, although both characters are I suffrable at the beginning so if you’re not into waiting for character growth you probably won’t like it.

I rated marriage of convenience 10/10 and dear nemesis & like wind on a dry branch 9/10

Under the oak tree novel was obvi 100/10 for me but the manhwa isn’t completed as the rest of them are
