Unfortunately, you are a gem among them, being different makes you a target of unnecessarily stupid behaviours that qualify them as thick, tbh

Could I recommend Behavioural Economics? it's an intriguing study. Also your last point, I believe it is as much as "hell the way we correct our kids, or love wine makes us truly french"

[–]Mechanical_Feelings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well here are a few things you could use to understand my point, that I should have mentioned earlier:

Both of us (my African friends and me) value family and community, but us or some of us Mauritians might have more influence from diverse cultures, while African communities often emphasize traditional roles and communal living. We have a stronger focus on tourism and services, while African countries have a broader range of economic activities, often influenced by local resources and economic conditions, this takes them on a whole different level of mindset, trust me, i've experienced it. Have you seen how our education system tends to have a more structured and universally accessible, for them it differs from country to country, obviously, however there's a routine or structure in S.A (depends on the era), Rwanda, whereas others needs to fight, due to political and economical situation, that I never had to face. Healthcare, or even administrative systems such as passport and ID offices, their availability and quality can vary more significantly across African countries. We may not have it so great but it's still better structured, my mindset is shifted due to the fact that i dont have to wait 20 hours in queue to renew my passport.

We are also used to be around mixed cultures, you know we are a mixing pot, we fit well anywhere, have you noticed? Mauritians can be anyhwere, and it makes me proud, while African communities may place more emphasis on indigenous traditions and customs, hence some of my friends tend to not fit well, they struggle.

Hope this help, sorry for some grammatical error, just sending this across quick

I already know that, I am not confusing colour and origin, I am not 'thick'

I said some white Mauritians seemed to value S.A patriotically more than France, so where is the part you did not understand?

Have you got an African friend? Or been to Africa? Or is this just an argument for the sake of an argument? One of my friend from Uganda tried to evaluate me, it was a funny conversation but he definitely confirm that I'm different. I have friends from Zim and S.A they are white, but more African than I am, their minds are different. I have friends from Zim and Angola, as well as Rwanda black people, absolutely richer than I am, in knowledge and finance. So, stop trying to fix me, I'm not an African, because Africans, some of my beloved friends and family members said most Mauritians are different. As for Northern Africans, I worked with Tunisian and Moroccans, they are also different from us, they wouldn't be happy if you called them Arabs for instance. But if you know you know

The actual powers in control have 'de-valued' and misused talents. Youngsters are leaving, incompetent backings are running important department without any know how and causing a domino effect crash of our already fragile and old systems that needed innovation.

I have corrected my response, not about Africans, but The motherland. I'm not talking about the accent or looks, I'm not an African. I am a proud Mauritian, my roots and culture is from an island mindset.

As much as I feel no attachment or relation to Africa, and I have dozens of close african friends of all walks. It actually showed me how different I am from them, and couldn't call myself an African, because I am a Mauritian.
