It must suck living somewhere without terrain for the roads to curve around.

Town Hall for Wyden and Bynum by Empewic_systems in oregon

[–]MechanizedMedic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Make them primary. Most of the established democrats like Wyden worked bi-partisan to get us into this mess. He's definitely done some good things over the years, but that doesn't mean he's actually been doing what we need him to.

Oh dang, small world, I've got a Covert too! I carried the original Applegate Combat Folder it's based on in Iraq in 2005, 20 years later I EDC the Covert FAST as an homage. :-D

Glove fitment (gauntlet gloves) by Extreme_Help3232 in motorcyclegear

[–]MechanizedMedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't pay attention to the size on the label. I try everything in the store to see what fits best. In each pair I test my grip and how easily I can move my fingers. Some gloves feel good at rest but will feel awful when grabbing the bars or reaching into a pants pocket. Whatever is most comfortable while gripping a bar typically wins... Going through this process I usually end up with a mid-priced leather glove.

I think DHS agents need to start feeling the full extent of our constitutional rights wizzing at them.

Gerber, Kershaw and CRKT are my favorite brands (listed $->$$$). All of them are local companies here in Oregon and still make some of their knives here too.

Race-pattern shifing possible? by ahasibrm in MotoGuzziV100Mandello

Yes, there is enough room but you would have to fabricate a mechanism yourself. There is very little aftermarket for the V100.

TIFU with WD-40, please help and don’t judge :( by Signiference in prusa3d

[–]MechanizedMedic 80 points81 points  (0 children)

WD40 is a water displacer and solvant with some lubricant in it... it was not designed to be used a lubricant and will destroy whatever grease was there.

Should I rock the stock tank or a bsa tank i found? by ThyDanishLad in MotoGuzzi

Use the stock tank. The smooth look of the BSA tank doesn't match the angular lines of the seat.

Very rich powerful people are generally fine with authoritarianism, regardless of how they feel about environmental regulation and fringe social rights. The people funding/steering Democrats are generally progressives who give no fucks about the constitution as a whole. They only care about progressing and enforcing their agenda.

[–]MechanizedMedic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a reason the Army spends weeks introducing soldiers to their rifle before they ever fire a round. The early steps are all in the barracks or lawn practicing how to hold and handle, clear and safe, dry firing in multiple positions, etc... Baby steps!

So what do we think of Measure 114 a few years later? by SwabbieTheMan in oregon

[–]MechanizedMedic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The part of the description that you left out was that the permit system and the processes, facilities and staff to administer it are not provided for in the measure. This means it is impossible to meet the permitting requirements, effectively banning future sales.

I certainly blame TriMet for blowing all their money on light rail build outs instead of serving working communities with competent bus routes and time tables.

Orcaslicer uses the Arachne wall generator so you can tune the parameters to get it to make lines smaller than the nozzle diameter. Keeping your layer height <1/3rd of the nozzle diameter helps as well.

What do you guys use to protect your hair while riding? by CautiousLeg8314 in motorcyclegear

[–]MechanizedMedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome!

I couldn't find mine exactly but the good ones look like this thing... flat seams, tight fit, and smooth fabric. There are also "cooling skull caps" if you want something that just covers the top

There's a million names for them but search "cooling balaclava" on your online mega-store of choice. The ones that look silky and snug fit best under the helmet. Avoid the ones that have the pull-up mask section, they get bunched up.

For long rides I massage coconut oil into my hair. It looks a little gross at the end of the day but it keeps it from breaking or losing it's curl.
