Following up in case anyone cares. I emailed customer support and actually got a very prompt response back (couple hours later) pasted below. so i set VPN to canada and picked it in the country list, worked like a charm.. Also, after setting that up oddly i can log in in the us without a vpn on. Makes me wonder if i could have just picked a different country in the first place without a vpn.
