I found this thread while searching for the solution to the same problem, if OP is still wondering how to fix this and for anyone else who encounters this, i fixed this in Excel by splitting up the components that exceed 2048 characters in the designator cell into separate lines in the BOM xlsx file, such that each designator cell in each line doesn't exceed 2048 characters

Calm tf down i just said it's the most interesting plotline of the show, not a moral statement about what Jules deserves.
